Oh, Audrey.

Everyone has that go to person when they need a little extra something, a little inspiration. And I’m not talking work inspiration. I’m talking life inspiration.

For that, for me, I turn to Miss Audrey Hepburn. If you want an example of style, class, dignity and grace she’s your lady. In fact, she’s the epitome of a lady. A lady who’s been through a lot and has come out the other side all the better for it.

I’d like to imagine that if Audrey and I were gal pals we’d be the sort of pair who would do things like go somewhere for afternoon tea or maybe we’d “lunch” – of course that would have to take place when we weren’t weekending at the lake or going to our book club meetings.

Who’s your go to inspirational figure?

I just adore Ina Garten. She has such a cool and confident way about her. She always inspires me to cook for friends.

By the way, you inspired me to ask pose this question on my blog. Such a fun one to think about. Thanks!

Pin-up girls do it for me. I have pin-up girls in my bedroom and bathroom so I see them every morning. Obviously the sexiness is something I’d like to have, but also just the badassery, and the sheer confidence and power that they project is something I’d like to have every day of my life.

And yes, I know that pin-up girls are usually playing a character (or, in the case of paintings, are entirely fictional characters altogether), but I still find the attitude appealing. If I were friends with the girl up on my calendar this month, I think we’d get dressed up all fancy, wear too much eye makeup, hop on our motorcycles and go take shots at the bar after we’ve kicked ass at work all day.

Mine is Sylvia Plath. I know it sounds so ridiculous since she totally committed suicide. That’s not very inspirational. But her poetry and prose are both so amazing. Even her journals inspire me. After spending some time in my Plath library, my poetry is ignited. I have to love her.
