Family Cookbook

I’m all over this idea of gifting a family cookbook. All over it. Anjali gave hers out as favors at her wedding, but I’m picturing a book full of my family’s favorite holiday recipes. Everything from main courses to cookies to the breakfast casserole we’ve eaten every Christmas morning for as long as I can remember. In fact, I think I’ll get started after the New Year of designing separate ones for both my dad’s and mom’s sides of the family. (via the kitchn)

That’s such a fantastic idea. I love any gifts that are a) handmade and b) have familial significance.
My fiance’s grandpa passed away last year. he used to crack a bunch of walnut shells every year. Last spring his wife (my fiance’s grandma) gave me a hue tupperware container full of perfectly cracked walnut shells. I made her, my fiance’s parents and brother a wreath made of the shells. I love the significance they hold.

Family recipes are amazing! I got to get around to photocopying all of my great grandma’s hand written ones – definitely the best!
