I’m kind of a cookbook junky. Okay not kind of, I am. Winter always puts me in homemaker mode which means lots of time spent in the kitchen, and this past year has seen lots of fantastic cookbooks that I’m still dying to get in my hands. Do you own any of these? Do you love them?

The Sprouted Kitchen: A Tastier Take on Whole Foods, What Katie Ate: Recipes and Other Bits and Pieces, Seasons: The Best of Donna Hay Magazine, The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook, Plenty: Vibrant Recipes from London’s Ottolenghi, Joy the Baker Cookbook: 100 Simple and Comforting Recipes, Modernist Cuisine at Home, Bouchon Bakery, Vintage Cocktails

I love(!) cookbooks! I much prefer to sit down and work my way through one of those cover to cover than crack open a novel any day!

We received a slew of cookbooks for our wedding back at the end of September. They’ve been some of my favorite gifts! Plus my sweet moms tossed in a few from Santa 🙂

Out of that list I own: The Sprouted Kitchen, The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook [my very favorite! I’ve already made at least a dozen of the recipes and every one has been a hit. You must try the olive oil, fig, and sea salt challah as well as the harvest roast chicken… and the red wine velvet cake with mascarpone frosting,] Plenty, and Vintage Cocktails.

You always put together such great lists – whether recipes to try or gift ideas. I’m so glad you posted this so I can add a few more books to my wishlist 🙂

Also: thanks for having a “not a spammer” button to click instead of yet another captcha. Those things are getting more complicated by the day!

I bought Joy the Baker for my MIL. Hope she likes it… It looked fab. So much so I almost kept it for myself.

bought Smitten Kitchen when Deb was doing a book signing – it’s an AMAZING cookbook and she was absolutely lovely!! i’d pass on Plently though – it’s beautiful but the recipes didn’t appeal to me. Try Homemade: http://www.amazon.com/Home-Made-Yvette-van-Boven/dp/1584799463 (it’s gorgeous and has cool recipes, albeit quite European but easily accessible for we Americans!)

Ooh! I love your collection. I’ve only heard of two of them. I bought joy’s cookbook for a friend over Christmas and he loved it. I tried a few recipes from Deb’s website, but I found two items burned. I’m not blaming her directions, but I’ve been hesitant to buy the cookbook for that reason. I hate to admit it, but Gwyneth Paltrow’s cookbook is very good. You also can’t go wrong with Barefoot Contessa!
