Paint Color Quandary.

Decorating is as much underway as it can possibly be without actually living in the new house. My closing date is all set for Wednesday, July 9th and I plan on painting the heck out of the place Saturday and Sunday before the movers bring all of my things Monday morning.

Being a designer I would have thought choosing paint colors to be one of the easiest things on my To Do List. WRONG. I’m being incredibly indecisive to the point of driving myself insane. So I thought I’d put it out there for you and get some opinions. Below are swatches that are still in the contest for the rooms I’m painting. Please keep in mind that the colors seem to be running a little dark and a little on the yellow side (at least on my monitor) as opposed to the actual swatches lying on my desk at the moment.

Which colors do you like? Hate?

Have an idea for a color not in contention? Please share.

I really like Adriatic Mist and the colors for your bedroom. I like the other colors…but for some reason I’m not loving the kitchen colors, I’m not for sure why though.

I like Marsh Grass – where’s it going?

I’ve always wanted a yellow kitchen personally, so… there’s that, but I like Down Home better of the two.

    Master Bedroom: love Pebble Stone.

I love the Guest bath color.

As far a suggestions, I’ve only got a Pantone book, so I’ll reference that.

For the office: I’ve read blue is a good color for that, somewhere. I’d pick a color like 5435. It’s nice a muted like the rest of the colors.

    Personally, I want a room painted 1385. 😀

I have sandstone cliff in my living room right now. It’s lovely. Greenish in certain light, grey in other.

    Of your selections:
I love Valley Mist for the Kitchen.
Down Home for the master (silverberry looks like it might be too lilac and cool)
    Sandstone Cliff for the Guest.

All gorgeous, very airy, beautifully calm without being white-all-over. Love it!

PS – I usually find the colour I want on the Farrow & Ball swatch selection. They have a very limited, but beautiful palette that makes selecting much easier.

Once you find the shade you can get it from them, or find it’s closest match from any manufacturer, even have it mixed to match.

I like them all, except marsh grass seems quite dark and yellowish to me. Could me the monitor though. I recently checked out “Decorating with color : the best of Martha Stewart Living” from the library, I love perusing the color palettes.

I like the top two and the bottom one the most! I am excited that things are moving along, and I can’t wait to see after photos!

I agree with the first comment about the kitchen colors – that is, they don’t really seem “appetizing.” I have an avocado in my office – and it is great. Makes me work hard! But for the kitchen…something friendlier… “convivial” is the word that comes to mind. Sunshine Yellow from Sherwin Williams’ Suburban Modern palette?

Going through the same thing right now. Not yet moved in, but planning. Picking colors is stressful, but exciting. These look nice to me, especially the office color.

marsh grass is gross, it looks like baby poop. the other colors are beautiful though. they all go together quite nicely too, which will give your house a more cohesive look.
