I’m awestruck by iri5’s Ghost in the Machine project. Maybe I need to dig out my old NKOTB and Milli Vanilli cassettes…
“In this series I showcase a number of portraits of musicians made out of recycled cassette tape with original cassette. Also included are portraits made from old film and reels. The idea comes from a philosopher’s description of how your spirit lives in your body. I imagine we are all, like cassettes, thoughts wrapped up in awkward packaging.”

Simon Evans.
I’m really digging the work of artist Simon Evans. He’s currently exhibiting at the James Cohan Gallery in New York (February 20 – April 4, 2009). Evans is an extraordinary artist and I’m especially intrigued by his piece Everything I Have. It really made me take a minute and think about weeding out the unnecessary things in my life.

Ann Wood.
When I saw Ann Wood’s breathatking cardboard castles on Apartment Therapy earlier this week I couldn’t resist checking her out further. What an inspiration. Wood creates the sort of things that you dreamt of as a child, but could never get quite right. Thankfully she never stopped trying. Looks like it all paid off not only in her castles, but also the ships and birds she creates.

Natsko Seki.
Artist Natsko Seki is a bit of a jack of all trades, dabbling in illustration, animation and graphic design. While all of her work knocks my socks off, her illustrations are what really blow me away. I love the bold color choices and collage-like feeling she lends to every piece.
