Commemorative Motorsport Bags.

I’m mad for these Commemorative Motorsport bags from Caracalla Bagaglio. Each bag is fashioned after past triumphs of famous race cars and their drivers. But you don’t have to be a racing fan to appreciate the gorgeous aesthetic of these weekend getaway bags. The detailing is immaculate, even the color schemes of the leather closely mimic their respective cars. {via Cool Hunting}

The Perfect Bag.

Last Wednesday night, after hours of whittling down my packing list for Alt, I managed to cram everything into a carry-on bag. And came to the maddening conclusion that I have become a high-maintenance traveler. I was in Salt Lake City for just over 48 hours, how in the world could I require more than would fit in a carry-on?!

And then I saw this. The Perfect Bag. (No, seriously, that’s really what it’s called!) And I decided that if this were my bag I could make two weeks worth of stuff fit inside just to have the pleasure of toting around something so chic. Hop on over and take the 360º tour. {seen on Neatorama}

Gifted: Flight Bag.

I love the vintage look of Wm. J. Mills & Co.’s flight bags. They remind me of the days when getting on an airplane was a luxury and sort of glamorous. You know, the days when you were actually served instead of herded. But I think they could also remind me of a lunch bag to haul my daily necessities back and forth from work! (They come in a ton of colors, but I’ve been on a gray and canary kick lately.) {via housemartin}

And I’m Back.

Whew.

After a great trip home, a reunion that was less awkward than expected and a return trip delayed by an entire day I’m finally back. However, I am feeling quite rundown and even a little homesick/weepy, so posting will be light for the next few days. I returned to work this morning to a whopping 81 emails in my inbox and am slowly digging my way out from under them all.

Good to be back in Blogland!

In 3… 2… 1…

And I’m out. Closing up shop for a few days while I take a much needed trip back home to Pennsylvania. It’s ten year reunion time for this girl and I’m looking forward to seeing my family at the same time. I usually only make it home during the holidays thanks to a pesky little thing called vacation days. (Insert Grrr here). I’ll be back Monday – have a fantastic week/weekend all!

IDEO Eyes Open City Guides.

I have a weakness for well-designed books, so you can imagine my excitement when Mark of Chronicle Books contacted me about the soon to be published IDEO Eyes Open city guides by Fred Dust. My wait ended yesterday afternoon when I received both the New York City and London guides in the mail.

My initial response? WOW. The type, the photography and the layout are all extremely beautiful and immediately sucked me in. This is definitely my kind of guide book – one that takes you to the cool little places you’d otherwise spend your entire trip trying to discover. These guides aren’t for the sightseeing crowd, but rather those who want to really discover their surroundings like a local looking for inspiration in the every day. To the casual observer the book doesn’t even make you look like a camera-toting tourist, which is a huge bonus in my eyes. There’s also a fantastic complimentary site to the books, check it out here.

What were some of my favorite spots, you ask? Let me share…

NEW YORK
MetroNaps: mid-day shut-eye in the Empire State Building
StoryCorps: a national project to instruct and inspire people to record each others’ lives in words
BAMN!: an automat of food for people on the go (or on the drink)
Rice to Riches: rice pudding heaven
GrandOpening: currently a ping pong parlor – but come July that’ll all change!

LONDON
Dans le Noir?: a dining experience in total darkness
Harvey Nichols Foodmarket: top quality food with amazing packaging design
Hayvend: vends specially produced artworks, smaller than the average slice of bread
Cafe Kick: foosball cafe
Electric Cinema: nique cinema experience with original interior and luxurious leather seating, footstools and tables for food and drink, and a bar

Globe-Trotter Trolley Case.

This cream and black Globe-Trotter Trolley Case couldn’t get any better. It would be perfect to haul along on the three whirlwind trips I’m about to embark upon in the next two and a half weeks. Can’t wait for someone to knock it off!
