Imitation.
The saying goes that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but I disagree when it’s not so much imitation as flat out stealing. After a heads up from a blogger friend I found out a certain Italian blog has not only stolen one of my old headers, but also has been posting a lot of the same material as Design Crush without giving credit where it’s due. To those of you who have linked to a post on Design Crush please do not think that this is in anyway directed towards you because that really is flattery. This is just plain mean-spirited stealing.

May 21, 2008 at 3:51 pmUgh! I have the same issue with another blogger and it makes me so angry.
The beauty of blogging and citizen journalism is that it lends so many unique voices to the mix.
The downside is that some people have no ideas of editorial rules or propriety, editorial integrity, plagiarism etc.
It fills me with the most indignant anger.

May 21, 2008 at 6:07 pmHi Kelly!
I just sent you an email (hope it worked). The blog world/copyright issues definitely need to be ironed out more. I got into trouble for posting pictures without permission (unknowingly, of course, and I feel horrible), but it’s still considered theft. Anyone taking pictures from your blog should be crediting back to you (or asking for permission), especially if they are original pieces. It’s like the wild west in terms of all that – not too many rules, and not too many ways to maintain your rights.
You’re blog is lovely and original. It’s a daily read for me; even if they’re copying, they can’t copy your style completely 😉
