Let’s Play House: Dining Set.
Houses are expensive. And if you’re like me – single and not so high on the Career Totem Pole – they don’t leave much left over to spend on things you want to put inside the house.
Enter IKEA.
I only own two pieces of furniture from them – the NORESUND bedside tables and the EXPEDIT bookshelves. Right now I’m looking at the DOCKSTA dining table and either the GILBERT, NORDMYRA or NORVALD chairs to accompany it in my kitchen. I love the table and have a friend who owns it, so I’m not too worried.
Which chair style would you choose to go with this table?

June 5, 2008 at 7:15 pmI choose Nordmyra! I have the same table and LOVE it. I went with the Urban chairs which are not as refined but pretty comfy.

June 5, 2008 at 7:23 pmDitto! I think the Nowald looks too traditional and the Gilbert’s porportions are too skinny.

June 6, 2008 at 3:07 pmOoh, gonna have to go against the grain and say that I really dislike the Nordmyra. My first choice might be the Gilbert, and then the Nowald.
Of course, you could always mix-and-match and do all three. 🙂

June 6, 2008 at 5:42 pmthe middle one. I think the wood warms it all up just enough.

June 6, 2008 at 8:43 pmThe nordmyra; the contrast of the wood is nice. I’ve been looking at a similar table, and have thought the clear plastic & chrome tobias could look kind of nice w/ it; particularly if paired w/ some modern fabric-covered seat cushion.

June 8, 2008 at 1:22 amI think the Norwald is too square for that table. The Nordmyra brings wood into the picture and the Gilbert brings the metal. Either shape works with the table but I prefer the Gilbert and the metal. (I personally have the Nordmyra in my kitchen).

June 8, 2008 at 11:37 pmGilbert gets my vote. I recall reading an article on these chairs that spoke of how comfortable they are. I really like how sleek they look.

June 10, 2008 at 8:15 pmHey Kel!
Dave and I actually have the gilberts, and i would suggest against them… they don’t stay together very well and, although nice looking, are on the crappy side. the screws keep coming loose causing wobbely-ness.
norgmyra gets my vote too.
