To Resolute or Not to Resolute.

So, resolutions… are you for or against them?

I always have a few in the back of my mind and one that’s been around every year since I turned about 15 – stop over-analyzing and over-thinking every little thing to death. Since it’s still around you can guess how that one works out year after year.

But this year I’m venturing down a new path. I’m making an attempt at changing my entire outlook. (So really, it’s more of a permanent change than a resolution.) This year I’m planning on not worrying about the future. Not how I’ll get there or when I’ll arrive. I’m just going to focus on the journey. I feel like a lot of the time I’m waiting around for my life to start, when really it’s happening all around me and passing me by every single day.

What’s your New Years resolution for 2009?

My ’09 resolution is nearly the same.
And to stop spazzing out about… everything. Namely things I can’t change.

…and, as a side note, I’m obsessed with nearly all of your “And I Quote” quotes.

I definitely need to just enjoy the journey–and eat more vegetables.

I think you were reading my mind. I just posted about this very thing:

    Here

Or, if you want the short version: I hate resolutions because they’re break-able. I like to make new goals each year, but I try not to call them “resolutions” because the stigma alone will cause me to feel they were broken hours after midnight.

I think I’m going to have to make the same resolution. I have recently been worrying about the future lately, from apartment issues to classes I have to take. I think I need to start living in the moment and enjoying every new day rather than worrying about tomorrow. Thanks for the inspiration 🙂
Hope you have a lovely New Year’s!

    i LOVE this photo!

i do make little resolutions, but i also think they’re a bit silly. i think we should constantly be bettering ourselves along the way… not just crowding gyms for the first month of the year 😉 i’d rather set fun or meaningful goals like, i WILL save enough money to travel to Europe by the end of 2009. not too shabby, right?

    • to be as mindful and in the moment as possible
