Win It: MusicCooks.
I love, love, love the concept behind Sharon O’Connor’s MusicCooks – 15 themed collections of recipes with an accompanying CD of music to listen to while you’re cooking that matches the mood of the food! The recipe cards are sturdy and easy to clean, while the music features Grammy-award winning musicians and Sharon herself among other artists.
Thanks to Sharon and her lovely daughter, Claire, I have two collections to give away this week – Coffee Treats and Chocolate Bliss! Coffee Treats features muffins, scones and quick breads to enhance your coffee time and Brandenburg Concertos to tickle your eardrums. Ant then there is Chocolate Bliss which is just that, a chocolate lover’s dream come true! Seductive Bossa Nova music is paired with it to put you in the mood for romance.
As a little sneak peak of the sheer deliciousness that each collection holds, here’s a recipe from each for you to whip up and enjoy! For you coffee-time lovers, Buttermilk Currant Scones with Strawberry Preserves and for the chocoholics, Chocolate Silk Pie.

October 6, 2009 at 2:27 amMusic and recipes – my two favorite things, what a great combination! What a great gift idea this year for Christmas, too.
I would have to put my "spin on spaghetti" as the star recipe. For the meat sauce I do half hamburger/half (hot!) sausage. I also saute garlic, onions, mushrooms, red, yellow, and green peppers, and cherry tomatoes to throw in.
Then, instead of traditional spaghetti noodles I use multi-grain rotini. A spicy twist on a classic dish!

October 6, 2009 at 4:35 amFantastic idea! The crossover between music and the arts (even the culinary arts) is one of my favourite things to explore.
If I were to include one recipe in a cookbook it would be my brownies. They're pretty kick ass, if I do say so myself.

October 12, 2009 at 1:42 amI'd definitely go with my spinach and artichoke dip. It's only slightly more time-intensive than store bought, but about a thousand times better.
To make it, just microwave two 6 oz packages of baby spinach until wilted, then drain and chop roughly.
Next, melt a little butter in a pan then add a package of cream cheese and a chopped clove of garlic. When that's all melty, fold in spinach a 14 oz can of drained and chopped artichoke hearts, 1/2 cup of sour cream, and 1/4 C mozzarella.
When it's all melted together, pour into a baking dish and sprinkle with more mozzarella. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes.
This is especially good with the cheap white French bread you get at grocery stores. (Way better with this than actual good bread. Trust me. Pita chips are good too, but when it's all hot and gooey out of the oven you'll want the fluffy white stuff.)
And if I had to pick some music to listen to while making this, I'd want something snappy, fun, and just the teensiest bit kitschy, like the dip itself! Maybe some Sinatra?

October 13, 2009 at 1:15 pmIf I was to create a cookbook the lead recipe would be my mom's homemade Blueberry Muffins! I can still remember waking up for school and that smell all over the house, just made my morning. So those would be my leading recipe for sure..maybe i'd call it Baking w/Mom and do fun items that are easy to make with kids…Go back to childhood cooking.
