July 20, 2009 at 3:50 pmI like to think that I am a plan-ahead-months-in-advance gift giver…but when life gets crazy…sometimes it's more like hours in advance!
Thoughtful wrapping always hides the face that I am a last-minute shopper, though!

July 20, 2009 at 5:01 pmI am such a notoriously overenthusiastic early shopper. I've been known to find the perfect gift months ahead of time, buy it, wrap it, and then excitedly try to convince the recipient that I should give it to them NOW. But sometimes I can wait.
Amy@OldSweetSong
July 20, 2009 at 5:20 pmI am a happy mix of both. I make all these huge plans and schemes ahead of time but often I don't get started until the last minute.

July 20, 2009 at 5:33 pmDue to my heavy international travel schedule, I have a well stocked gift closet. Whenever I see something fun or interesting, I buy it and stick it away. Sometimes I buy stuff with a particular person in mind; other times, it's just something cool and unusual.

July 20, 2009 at 5:41 pmI'm totally a months ahead girl…or at least I like to think so. I'm a compulsive list writer so if I think of a good idea, I'll inevitably write it down. the odds that I actually REVISIT the list are slim, but it's the thought that counts. right?

July 20, 2009 at 5:54 pmI think I'm in the middle. It depends on the person and how well I know them, also I tend to do themes so it also depends on my idea at the time, and what I can find.

July 20, 2009 at 6:08 pmMy college shopping style is sooooo last minute! I also have to make the wrapping extra cute, just in case my lack of funds is apparent by the gift within. I make my own cards, use wrapping paper from newspaper (and such), and make bows from cute ribbon.
I tell my friends and family that one day I might actually have real money and I may be able to give them real presents from real stores. Ha ha!

July 20, 2009 at 6:58 pmIt really depends on the person. Sometimes I just see something in a shop and I buy it because it really fits one of my friends so perfectly but their birthday may be months away. When I have money, I'm going to have a room of presents to always be giving.
One things for sure, I need something to spice up the outside of the presents. These are lovely.

July 20, 2009 at 7:19 pmFor most things, I'm a look-until-I-find-the-perfect-thing gift giver, for birthdays, anniversaries, holidays. But I also have a collection of little things to give in "emergencies". But for my wrapping, I go all out: coordinating papers, ribbons, tags.

July 20, 2009 at 7:25 pmI'm a last minute shopper. :\ One of these days I'm going to be one of those smart shoppers that picks up little goodies to have on hand for hostess or teacher gifts. I do however have lots of pretty gift wrap, ribbons and bags so these paper goodies will be a nice addition to my wrapping collection.

July 20, 2009 at 7:33 pmI'm a "so far ahead that I confuse myself" shopper. I have to-do lists for my to-do lists and when it comes to gift buying I open a folder with gift ideas and previous purchases for each person. Is there a support group for people like me?

July 21, 2009 at 4:48 amI am a very ahead shopper – I like to pick things up that remind me of certain people and stash them away. I have boxes upstairs labeled gifts – and every time I pick up a little something, it goes in that person's box or bag and the amount in added until I reach their 'budget'. It's so fun to see what I can get here and there that I know will bring a smile to their face. If it's over budget for that occasion, I have something for the next one…and the next…and the next…I should really be a personal shopper – I love to do it so much!

July 22, 2009 at 12:49 amI start early, thinking it all over and then by the time I have the perfect gift figured out, found, and purchased/made its usually months after the occasion…I (embarassingly) actually still have a gift from two years ago for a friend…I've just given in and am waiting for her next birthday! oops!

July 22, 2009 at 3:21 pmi can thank my mom for instilling in me good gift giving style. i can remember growing up, on birthdays or valentines day…she would buy a bunch of little (yet meaningful) things and put them together in a nice basket. the presentation was just as important as the contents.
so as that skill was passed on, i tend to do the same thing. when i decide i'm going to give someone a gift, a lot of time and thought goes into it. the last basket i put together was an xmas present. everything was wrapped seperately and the gifts included, a framed picture of the 2 of us, a book i knew she wanted to read, a gift certificate, and some chocolates.
so there it is, my gift giving style. if i win, i will give the gift toppers to my mother. i know she'd love them.

July 23, 2009 at 1:28 pmI LOVE LOVE LOVE gift wrapping! when I was 13 years old I had my heart set on working at the gift wrap station in a local boutique, it was my dream job. SO I went and applied and I even lied about my age, but they saw right through my lie and said they couldn't hire such a young person..my heart was broken.
Anyways I will often buy gifts months in advance, but sometimes I get frustrated from not finding anything and wait till the very last minute. I always make my own cards though! These are so cute they would make my inner 13 year old giddy~!

July 23, 2009 at 2:23 pmreally the only person I usually plan WAY ahead for is my hubby. Most of the time other recipients get some thought but not quite as much…so I'd say normally I'm a semi-last minute shopper. Usually not the day of or anything but not months in advance! I love gift wrapping though, it is one of my favorite parts of gifting.
Thanks for the chance!

July 23, 2009 at 9:43 pmThere will be days (usually during a college semester) where I don't have time to get a gift. There was one time where I had an hour to come up with a gift, and I thought I would have time to run home and wrap it. Well I ended up getting it 15 minutes before the party and didn't have time to stop at home, and then ended up not even wrapping it! :S For the most part I try and plan at least a week ahead, but during the semester, I have to plan accordingly.

July 24, 2009 at 1:56 pmIt is my dream to have closet full of gifts which have been carefully chosen months in advance – However I am not that organized nor do I have the ability to wait to give a gift.
I usually get so excited about giving gifts that I want to give them to the recipient immediately.
Therefore I am more of a last minute gifter – but always immaculately wrapped.

July 24, 2009 at 6:12 pm99% of the time, I'm a last minute shopper. If I shop too far ahead, I usually cannot remember where I stashed the gift. Plus if the gift is something truly spectacular, I wouldn't be able to contain myself with the excitement over giving the gift so I could never store it for months at a time.

July 24, 2009 at 8:36 pmDepends….I keep a stash and it has been a real lifesaver several times. For special folks like my husband and family–often I can't figure it out until the last minute when the pressure is on! (I just bought my mother-in-law a tiara from D Sharp. I can't wait until she opens it!)

July 24, 2009 at 9:46 pmI definitely find it easier to shop for the ladies in my life, so their gifts get bought ahead of time, wrapped sweetly, and topped with a hand-written tag or card and some pretty ribbon. The gentlemen, on the other hand, have received more than their fair share of Amazon gift certificates emailed the day of the occasion…

July 25, 2009 at 5:41 pmMy style is a little of both… but always contains things that are true reflections of people (well I try anyway!) I do lots of shopping ahead during the year for Christmas, especially when I visit special stores or fairs that I know I wont see again! And always with the handmade wrappings. I LOVE wrapping with ribbon and white paper!

July 25, 2009 at 5:46 pmIt pains me to give anything except something handmade by someone, preferably me. So, if I haven't made something well in advance, I buy something from the heart of another, at least. I have a vintage Airstream trailer and have a crush on everything shiny and silver, including d.Sharp, of course!

July 26, 2009 at 6:14 pmI love spending time thinking about the right gift for the right person — and spend almost as much time decorating the package! Christmas starts early around my house. 😉 I love d.Sharp and have given some of her packages AS the gifts!

July 27, 2009 at 2:27 amI try to buy my gifts early but usually wind up grabbing things last minute. However, I always try to dress up my packaging with a little extra flair so the recipient understands how much I care about them. Love your designs. bbrrtt1@cox.net

July 27, 2009 at 12:07 pmI have all the good intentions of being an early shopper, but the bad habit of a procrastinator. I like to give meaninful yet practical gifts…something I know that will be used instead of being thrown into some dark closet never to be seen again. And I am ALWAYS a late gift wrapper…thus most gifts are given in a gift bag with tons of tissue paper. But I do take time to write more than two words in the cards I give. More people appreciate THAT than the gift itself.

July 27, 2009 at 1:46 pmGiving gifts are one of my most favorite things to do. I am definitely an early shopper. I like to check out everything, spend some time thinking about what to give as a gift, and then make sure I have enough time to wrap it up. Wrapping is probably my most favorite part. I love how gifts look with their different style of paper, some colorful, some dressed up in other way. The card is another important aspect for me. I love picking out a fun card that will make the person smile!

July 27, 2009 at 2:53 pmI love giving gifts! The most fun for me is the hunt for that perfect gift and then the wrapping of each package. I love finding some little whatever to tie into the bow that either represents the person I am giving it to or the occasion. I also tie luggage tags that I have made and use that for the card. It always gives it that homemade and classic touch.
