Dreamy Watercolors

Watercolor has always been an extremely fascinating medium to me, most likely because it’s one I’ve failed to master even after repeated attempts. The combination of extreme control mixed with wreckless abandon is incredibly beautiful, so I’ve been really happy to see it being used more often in recent months. It’s also inspired me to pick up my paints and give it one more shot…

Pour

Holton Rower’s Pour series is magical eye candy. Every multi-dimensional plywood and acrylic piece looks like a cracked open jawbreaker and a topography map all rolled into one.

Wild Animals

The snake rattles,
the lion yawns
and man makes a book.
A wild book
for civilized people.
A sophisticated book
for wild people.
A beautiful book
with wild animals
for civilized people.
A book with beautiful animals
for wild people.

Wild Animals is a beautiful self-published book by Rop van Mierlo resembling some of the best Rorschach tests you’ve ever laid eyes upon.

Mareike Auer.

This morning I can’t help crushing on these ironic, whimsical paintings by Austrian artist Mareike Auer. Prints are available in three different sizes in her shop, it’s just a matter of which one to snatch up. {via paper n stitch}
