Period Clock

Period Clock-1-Design Crush

When someone finds a new way to translate the passage of time I’m inevitably intrigued. This concept – Period Clock – by artist Tamer Köşeli is just that, a minimalist approach to time that functions with the help of two rotating circles. A little tricky to read at first, but easy once you catch on. It even glows in the dark when the lights go out. (via The Fox Is Black)

City Quilts

City Quilts-1-Design Crush

Hand-stitched City Quilts from Haptic Lab are beautifully detailed street maps of your favorite cities fit for everyday use. As of now you can choose from Boston, Chicago, London, Los Angeles, New Orleans, New York City, Paris, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Washington DC. There are even a few quirkier versions that you’ll have to check out for yourself!

Flask Vases

flast vases-Design Crush

CB2 has some great pieces out for the start of 2013, and these iron Flask Vases are one of my favorites. I love that they can either serve their intended purpose as a vessel for flowers or stand alone as a sculptural piece.

Leather Bag Tag

bag Tag-Design Crush

This leather bag tag from Owen & Fred is everything I love in the world. Simple, utilitarian, and clean. Of course it’s designed for your luggage, but I’d be hard-pressed not to hang a more vague version off my handbag as an accessory as well. (via bltd)

Alt Summit Schedule

My Alt Schedule-1-Design Crush

By now all of you attendees have likely downloaded and filled in your Wardrobe Planner + Packing List and are starting to think about the actual Alt Summit conference. I’ve put together a little 8.5 x 11″ foldable schedule to help with that, all of the sessions and track options are listed so you can just tick off which ones you plan on attending! It comes in handy when you’re caught up in the adrenaline and excitement and don’t know which was is up (trust me on this one). You can download your Alt Schedule right here. See you in five days!

Ridiculously Versatile Risotto

January calls for – no demands – comfort food. It’s just one of those unwritten laws of the kitchen that is unquestionably followed. To me nothing says comfort like a steaming hot bowl of carbs, in this case risotto. This large grain is incredibly versatile – savory or sweet, simple or complex, it has it all. Here are twenty recipes to get your tastebuds popping. (Click on the image to be taken to the recipe.)
