Happy Weekend.

Today is a perfectly November kind of day. Chilly. Overcast with the sun peeking through every once in awhile. And I’m hoping my weekend turns out perfectly November as well.

This Weekend:
• finish writing out Christmas cards
• work on Christmas gifts
• make my mom’s stew recipe
• do a little Christmas shopping
• catch up on house work
• recharge for next week

Happy Weekend!

The Daily Eat: Sweet Potato Waffles.

I love breakfast foods, but I rarely eat anything more than a bowl of cereal or piece of toast in the AM. My favorite is breakfast for dinner. Mainly because I’m more awake and able to safely operate appliances. Can’t wait to try out these sweet potato waffles. And get this – they’re healthy!

Capped Fingerless Gloves.

I’m wearing my first sweater of the season today which means hats, scarves and gloves can’t be that far behind. Which is good. Because I have what some might call a fascination (RE: obsession) with them. This pair of capped fingerless gloves is at the top of my list currently. Love the length!

Thank You Too.

Thank You Too. Because it’s a highly-underused phrase and everyone needs to say it a little more often. Check out all the different ways and pass it on.

Messy Contentment.

You know how sometimes a day takes you by surprise? It doesn’t start out all that special and even a few things go wrong. It’s not perfect by any means and not is all right with the world. But for some reason you’re all smiley and content anyway? That’s today.

On the Rocks: Fall Fizz.

The Fall Fizz seems like a delicious way to help pass those drunken hours spent with your family this holiday season…

Ingredients:
– 1 1/2 ounces cucumber vodka (recommended: Square One)
– 1/4 ounce apple brandy (recommended: Coeur de Lyon Calvados)
– 1/4 ounce pear liqueur (recommended: Poires Pear Liqueur)
– 1/2 ounce egg whites
– 1/2 ounce fresh squeezed lemon juice
– grated cinnamon for garnish

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Shake without ice for 30 seconds to emulsify the egg whites. Add ice to the shaker and shake for another 30-45 seconds. Strain into a martini glass. Garnish by grating cinnamon over the top of the cocktail. Makes 1 cocktail.
