Paper + Cup Labels.

I moved into my house nine months ago and have yet to get anything printed with my return address. That’s right, every single thing that goes out in the mail gets a handwritten addy in the upper left corner and it need to come to an end! I’ve been weighing the virtues of labels versus a stamp and just can’t decide. But I do know that a set of these labels from Paper + Cup would be kickarse for sending out greeting cards and invitations. Now if I could only decide between these three… but I’m leaning towards the first.

PS: Yes, yes photos of my house are in the works for posting. I just have that feeling that I want every single thing in it’s place before I show anything. But everyone knows that’s not how life works, so I need to just bite the bullet and get on with it already!

PPS: And yes, sort of contradictory to post about paper after ranting about Earth Day, but you know how it goes…

On the Rocks: Blackberry Tom Collins.

For a short time after turning the ripe old age of 21, the Tom Collins was my drink of choice. Well, until the heartburn kicked in from the vast amounts of sour mix I was imbibing in. However, I’d be willing to sacrifice my esophagus for one of these oh-so-tasty looking Blackberry Tom Collins cocktails. And how refreshing, not a drop of sour mix in sight!

Ingredients:
– 3 lrg. Blackberries
– 1/2 oz Fresh Lime Juice
– 1 t Sugar
– 2 oz Gin
– 3-4 oz Club Soda

Put blackberries in a highball glass, add lime juice, and sugar and muddle (you know, smash it all together with a pestle or something similar). Add ice, then pour in gin and club soda. Stir, garnish with a couple cut blackberries if you’d like, and enjoy. Serves one.

The Daily Eat: Blackberry Dumplings.

Dumplings are like little drops of carb heaven to me, but it never occurred to me to turn them into a dessert. This recipe for Blackberry Dumplings ends up resembling something like a dessert soup because the blackberry juice never thickens. Sounds like the perfect match for a summer dinner party if you ask me.

Earth.

I can hardly wait to see this. Animals are the best (especially baby animals). And this film looks absolutely amazing. It opens today. If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, check it out.

Happy Earth Day.

I try to do what I can to make a difference, but there always seems to be so much more. At home I recycle, turn off lights when I leave a room, turn off the water while I brush my teeth and use low flow shower heads. I also use compact fluorescent light bulbs as much as possible. Plans are in the works to start a small compost heap. And at work we’ve instituted recycling bins. (Which is only worth mentioning because we’re a tiny company.) These little things are so easy to do and quickly become a habit.

What do you do to try and help the planet?

Petter Hanberger.

If you get a chance definitely check out the portfolio of Petter Hanberger. He’s pretty much the definition of creative – the breadth of his work is amazing. These two are my favorite projects on his site.
67 pieces of artwork. All handfolded, packaged signed and numbered by hand. I hope they will give the tea and its bag a new meaning for me and anyone else who gets one.

Petite France is bakery/pastry/lunch cafe at Kungsholmen in Stockholm. They are well known in the neighborhood for high quality and a genuine passion for pastries. We found the word “meet” relevant to resume Petite France; the dough meets the baker, the costumer meets the cafe, the bread meets the costumer, France meets Sweden etc. The result was a number of patterns meeting in a Petite France patchwork. Collaboration with Zorica Radovic.
