My best friend lives very far away (in WY, I'm in CA) but our phone bills are ridiculous sometimes. I miss you, T!! We always talk about just a few short years ago our lives were very different than they are today, and then we laugh. 馃檪

My bestest buddy is also my cousin Kara! I obviously have fond memories of all my cousins growing up but over the last 2 or 3 years mine and Kara's friendship has really grown into something very special to me. It must be a gene thing but we are sooo alike its scary. I love that we practically finish each others sentences and there is something comforting in the fact that I know she just 'gets' me.

Kara also introduced me to Cinnamon Swirls….what more could you want in a best friend? 馃槈

My best friend is also my cousin. After years of having to talk on the phone, we are finally roomies!!! She got a job in the town that I go to school in. We are complete opposites that sometimes get mistaken for sisters, but we don't mind. Our relationship has been strong over the years, but even better now that we live in the same town, let alone the same house!! I love her dearly and would do anything for her. She's the best!!

My best friend lives in Louisiana, I live in TN. We met years ago, on the first day of 7th grade. All day long, people kept coming up to me calling me Marta. When I met her at lunch, she told me that the entire day everyone kept calling her Melanie. ha, We did look alot alike so it was easy to see why people got us confused. Everyday after that we were inseparable, and even now in our twenties, and living in different states, we talk every day!

I've known my best friend, Kara, for eight years now. We met when we were in middle school — volunteering at the local science museum, taking care of reptiles and amphibians. I've traveled the US and world with her and we've always lived near each other. I am moving from NC to Seattle in a week, and I don't know what I'm going to do without her! She keeps me sane, and I can always be honest with her. Plus she makes me buy clothes I never would otherwise. I will miss her like no other!

I've been friends with one since we were three, with another for only a few years, and most of them for somewhere in between, but my very closest friends are my sisters. I'm so glad to have my sisters, who will always love me no matter what silly things I do.

My best friend was my roommate in first year at University. I was 6 hours from home, and totally scared. We had talked before we moved in and figured out that our sisters knew each other and went to school together, so that made things a bit easier for both of us. We got in a fight in the middle of our year together, and she ended up moving out half way through the year. At exam time at the end of the year we got to talking again, and agreed that it was stupid that she moved out, and we started talking again, and haven't stopped since! We are now going into our 3th year at university, and are moving back in with each other this school year, and are as excited as can be. We can talk about anything, be it embarrassing, sad or something amazing to happen in our lives, and the other will listen and give advice like she was acting on her own life. We come from such similar background- both country girls living in the city for school, and we are adjusting to the same sorts of things together.

I'd never considered my older sister my best friend until a few years ago. Despite the fact that we've always been thick as thieves I thought that family was just that – family. But the fact is, when I have exciting news or have had a bad day there is no one else I want to tell first. She's found God in it all. She's found true love. She's found happiness. She's picked herself up and dusted herself off. She's found herself in these last 12 years and just in time. Just in time because she's having a baby.

I am lucky to have a group of 4 girls that I consider my best friends. I suppose I'll have to pick one to tell you about, so for the purpose of not leaving the longest blog ever, I will pick my oldest best friend, Kelly.

Kelly and I met when we were 4 years old. I was an only child playing by myself in front of our house when Kelly came riding past on her tricycle. Her grandpa was with her and he said ' would you like a friend to play with? this is my granddaughter Kelly, I think you two would have fun together!' Boy was he right!

24 years later, Kelly Jean and Ellie Jayne (yes, we always loved the similarity in our names) are still playing together and have been through more than you can imagine- even a rough patch where we did not speak for almost 2 years but then reunited at her sister's baby shower and it was like nothing ever happened. That's true friendship.

Whenever someone refers to Sophie as my friend, I feel the need to correct them, because friend just isn't strong enough. Friends, everyone has those. For some they are a dime a dozen. Sophie is someone I will only ever find once in my life. She makes me laugh my hardest and learn with more dedication. She can be so frustrating sometimes but i always know why. She can still surprise me, of course, but I also know her and understand her more than anyone else.

She is really, really smart and has this desire to know everything and do everything, and while that is technically impossible, it doesn't keep her from trying. She knows so much already and she is only 20 years old. She is artistic and musical and has an understanding of language and space and science. She spends her free time learning things. One of her main sources of frustration is the fact that she can't learn more, but it doesn't stop her from always trying.

She has a beautiful smile and an even more beautiful laugh. She talks with her hands and when she's upset or angry it shows in her whole body. She tells these stories that just go on forever with this one voice that she only uses when telling stories, and I never look like I'm listening to her but I always am.

We have been friends for just under five years but I know we're just scratching the surface of a life-long friendship. We live 3000 miles apart for much of the year now and though some weeks we don't talk at all, we've managed to maintain this beautiful friendship.

My best friend is my husband.

That probably seems very chincy, but he is a seamless presence in my life. I've never been around someone that I could be around for any length of time and not feel awkward or without something to say. I can entirely be myself around him; no airs, no forced personality. I can be weak, silly, completely dorky and most of all honest with how I feel. He always has a kind word, a goofy smile, or something that just breaks the silence with roaring laughter and something that catches on and is remembered over and over again with a smile.

He's my best friend and someone I just can't live without.

My best friend is my Mom. Whether it's a ten minute bitchfest over the snobby girl at the post office or an hour long conversation over what type of crafting glue is best, she is the one who makes me laugh, cry, and let go.

I was unsure of where I was going in life and was hesitant to follow my dream of starting my paper goods store. She sent me a small note that said "Strength is the product of struggles – go for it, Ash!" I quit my dead end job and went for it, and she has supported me ever since. She has always pushed me to follow my dreams and that is what true best friends are for. 馃檪

My best friend is awesome, loud and raucous and tells a mean joke, also, really really super smart! Now here's the cheesy bit – it's my hubby. We basically haven't shut up for 14 years. He says teh things I don't dare and knows what I'm thinkn' before i think.

If I had to pick best girls friend – I really don't have many, but the closest would be my crazy creative friend Mar over at paperolive.com – I've bragged about her bunches over on my site aniemgirlie.com/pblog.

My younger sister is my best friend! We lived together in college/after college, and have finally had to fly solo now that she is in VA and I am in NY. It is very weird not living across the hall, stealing from her closet, and having late-night chats on the kitchen counter. If I won this, I would definitely share one of the gifts with her 馃檪

My best friend, my boyfriend, is in a different state than me, but I feel as close to him as ever. We have so much fun even when we're 1500 miles apart! I really can't put into words how much I appreciate his friendship and love. ::sigh::

Besides counting my fiance as my best friend (obviously, since I am marrying him), I have to mention my best friend Arielle. We've known each other since kindergarten (we're talking 20 years + people!) and we're very much the same person. Even though she moved a state away a few years into our friendship, it cleary didn't matter, since we've been best friends ever since. 馃檪

My best friend and I can talk about anything and everything. We know we won't judge or look down on eachother for anything. We were roommates for a couple years, and got to know eachother really well. Although we live in different cities now we still connect as often as possible and pick up just where we left off. I'm going to visit her for her birthday next weekend 馃檪

My best friend lives in Pennsylvania and I live in Dubai. But we email multiple times a week and share everything…we have challenged each other, encouraged each other, and had precious fun moments on summer visits when I'm in the states! She's at university now and has less time (I chose not to go to college) but our friendship isn't gonna change.

My best friend is one of unpredictable, most amazing women I know! She is always real, never jealous. Always strong, never ungreatful.

During the little time we nowadays get to spend together we still laugh so hard it makes us cry!

She never sugar-coats anything but at the same time never hurts my feelings.

She is always open-ears and gives me advice when I need it; she supports my decisions without judgment.

    She likes me for me!

And best of all, even though we live a plane-ride apart, I know she'll always be there no matter what.

when we were kids my 11 months older than me sister / to-be best friend hated me.. the ending is much happier.. i skipped a class and we ended up being in the same grade.. from then on we finished high school together, university together and even studied the same majors! This year we graduated together (her GPA is 0.01 higher than me) and other than that tiny tiny difference we are totally in sync and always there for each other.. my bestfriend rocks!

I've known my best friend my entire life. We spent endless sleepovers giggling over MASH and Madlibs, gossiping about boys and daydreaming together. We went to the same out of state college and were paired as roommates, where we played MASH and Madlibs, gossiped about boys and daydreamed together. Then we found our boys and stood with eachother at our weddings. Now she's got a little girl that I get to spoil, and since her husband is serving in Afghanastan we still get to have sleepovers, play MASH and Madlibs (for old times sake) and daydream about our futures and our children's futures.

My best friend lives above me. He is tall and skinny and we must look an odd pair. But he knows when i'm sad without me saying and he knows when i'm about to burst with excitement. He is not perfect; he doesn't want to know the details like a girlfriend would, but i've never had to worry about him stealing my crush either. most important of all, my cat loves him. and Oliver is a very good judge of people.

I'm so lucky my bestie is also my roomie. Our house is too small, and too cluttered and sometimes just downright too sloppy, but we fit in it so well. I love that after a hard day I know someone is will wait with an ice cream and a wine bottle and will side with me no matter what! (Oh, albeaton@aol.com)

My best friend and I met on Picture Day in 11th grade. She just walked up and starting talking to me like we'd known each other forever. At the time, I thought she was a little strange, but ten years later and I can't imagine my life without her! She's definitely family, and even though we live far away from each other now – she's in NC and I'm in NYC – we still talk on the phone every single day. I love her to death.

I met my best friend on my first day of school for 8th grade while I was waiting at the bus stop, just after my family had moved into the neighborhood. She took me under her wing then, and has supported me through thick and thin: she's made me a gorgeous red velvet cake whose frosting melted off :D; eaten bean sprouts despite hating them because they're in one of my favorite recipes (I didn't know she hated them!); makes the *best* sushi anywhere; constantly challenges herself (like running her first marathon this year!); quietly lets me know when I should work on being a better person; let me cry on her shoulder on my wedding day when the monumentalness hit me; and is always there to back me up whenever I need her to. I've tried to give as much as she gives me, but I don't know if that will ever happen!

Luckily my best friend is also my fiance. He is my love who listens to me, explores with me, trusts me and helps me. He's willing to do things I want to do and I enjoy doing the things he wants to do. The best part is that we both enjoy exploring new places and events together so the memories become ours.

My best friend (besides hubby) lives 8 hours away from me which makes me very sad. We have been best friends since highschool and followed each other to college where she met a wonderful guy our freshman year and proceeded to get married and now has 3 little girls! I miss her dearly and hope we live close someday again, but every time we get to see each other is a treat and it's as if no time has passed. We have seen each other through some crazy times and good times and I can't wait until we can share family times together. I miss my Tara!

My best friend and I do not get to see each other as often as we would like – time and space are such distracting things.

But days, weeks, months can pass and we pick up exactly where we left off. We are growing older, mostly gracefully, and I know she will remain as beautiful as I have always known her to be.

I always refer to my best friend as the blond crazier California version of me. Shes a military brat which is how we met 9 years ago in NY. I was always a welcome wagon for new students but we quickly learned all about each other. After being inseparable for 4 1/2 years she was forced to move back to cali. I had never cried over a friend leaving before. With the whole country between us we experienced college without each other and yet knew exactly what was going on. Like twins know what is going on with each other so do we despite a 3 hour time difference. As her boyfriend deployed for 6 moths she graciously offered to have me stay with her for the tail 3 to save her from loneliness and me from a collapsing family back in ny. I must go back to the East Coast on Wednesday… shell be the first one I call when my plane touches ground.

I met my best friend on my first day of college. We bonded over the fact that we both go by our nicknames instead of our given names and these nicknames happen to be EXTREMELY similar. We share the same taste in music & movies which is pretty important to both of us. We've shared everything from a 10 x 10 room in college to years of roadtrips from NY to Miami to hours of hysterical laughter and many phonecalls ending in tears. She's the yin to my yang and I absolutely love her. My email address is metzger105@gmail.com.
