i have a brother who is an english prof. and he talks like this all the time :0) but i have a father who is an elementary school principle who thinks that you should read whatever book inspires you to keep reading and to 'thirst for knowledge' so to speak because sometimes a 'silly' book makes you want to keep reading and work up to something like moby dick, whereas if someone reads moby dick right off they might not want to keep reading … and i myself agree with both of them :0) i dont want to be made to feel guilty for reading harry potter but i want to expose myself to books that make me stop and think and create some kind of emotion in what im reading and inspire me to examine my life type of book.

whew – – sorry about the 'novel'

I've only read books like this recently. Yes they're brilliant, but I'm tired of cringing for/sobbing over/generally feeling bad for fictional characters! Time for some girly fluff…
