Searching for Shades

The summer after high school graduation I started wearing shades that were way too big for my face, and I’ve never looked back. I started with an oval pair that had tortoise shell frames (very Jackie O.), and made my way through until I landed on my favorite a few years ago. A pair of sunglasses that were black framed, almost square, and cost $5. They broke last December as I walked into an Office Depot to buy a cordless mouse for my aunt. Memories are funny, replacing sunglasses is not. Now that the temps are on the up and up – at least here – I need to find a new pair.

Sunglasses are one of my obsessions! I try not to get to expensive cause I lose or break them all the time!

Yup, I’m on the inexpensive shades bandwagon too. I usually find a pair at a street fair or TJ Max for $10 but this year I discovered the beauty of Ross. $4 sunglasses. And they’re Elle, and tortoise shell, and look great! yay.

I NEVER could find a sunglass shape I felt I looked good in and was so uncomfortable wearing whatever I ended up buying. Until…I bought a pair of huge (men’s actually) aviators. They still probably look silly, but because I think they are fun and I mean them to come off kind of silly, I love them!!!!!

All beautiful options! I have good memories of my sunglasses too. It’s weird what we tend to remember, isn’t it? My current most favourite pair are my prescription Oliver Peoples. I love them. I just ordered a few non-prescription pairs from OC Shades (via http://mrslilien.squarespace.com/shoppe/) including a pair that’s the same as the black round ones at the top. I should get them next week!
