Huset Pot Guards

I’ve been waiting for something like the Huset Pot Guard literally since the day I started cooking, I can’t even begin to estimate how many times a pot has boiled over onto my stovetop. And there’s nothing I hate more when it comes to household chores than cleaning crevices on a stovetop. These little guys keep the perfect gap between lid and pot, allowing heat and steam to escape. Choose between the laser cut wooden likenesses of a hedhog, owl, or moose. (via Tasteologie)

Color Stories: Bright Poppy Red

hi there! this is Alyson from Unruly Things, happily filling in while Kelly is off in Milan. like Kelly, I’m also a graphic designer and a huge fan of color. lately, I’ve been curating a color series on my blog. I asked Kelly what her favorite color was so I could share one of my Color Stories with you today. she said bright poppy red, one of my faves too, so here are a few things I’m loving in different tones of poppy red.

one : washed twill tee / two : red two-tone & plaid necktie / three : minsk clogs / four : cael necklace / five : scotch naturals polish / six : little hell esb / seven : leather bag / eight : linen dish towel / nine : mt. rainer sport socks

Love Letter Napkins

I just realized that I don’t own any cloth napkins. Any at all. These Love Letter Napkins seem like a good first set, simple yet unique. The letters were written by literary greats Emily Dickenson, Jack London, Mark Twain, and D.H. Lawrence. (via bltd)

Maps Rocks Glass

Hand-etched 10 oz rocks glasses featuring street maps of U.S. cities? YES! Right now you can choose from Boston, South Boston, and Los Angeles. Chicago, Manhattan, Portland, Washington DC, San Francisco, Seattle, and Atlanta are coming to the Maps Rocks arsenal soon. Custom locations are also available. I’d love to create a set out of all of the different cities I’ve lived in! They’d also make a pretty great gift. PS: There’s a  carafe, too. (via Tastespotting)

Colorful Kitchen

Clockwise from top left: Mepra Fantastia Flatware, Bodum Bistro Electric Hand Mixer, Juicer, Infusion Coffee Maker, Butter Dishes, Core Bamboo Bucket Bowl, DeLonghi kMix Toaster, Modern Neon Hardwood Serving Spoons

At first glance my kitchen has white cabinets, mottled grey countertops, and red accents. But open up just one of the cabinets and you’ll see color everywhere – multi-colored Fiestware, graphic serving pieces, mugs aplenty. To me the kitchen is one of the easiest rooms to add personality to and these pieces definitely make the cut.

UNITEA

I’m completely dazzled (yes, dazzled) by Fionn Tynan O’Mahony’s UNITEA, cups with spouts that allow tea to flow from one to the next. So beautifully designed, from the corks that plug the cups once they’re full down to the short and stout cup holding the exact same amount as the tall and thin one when full.

Rocking Bowls

Rocking Bowls would definitely put a punch of fun into the tailgating and watch party get togethers that accompany each and every autumn. These fun, well designed vessels are by Yaakov Kaufman and available in several colors (and PS: totally affordable).
