Reminder: Seventy & Sunny Deadline.

The entries for Win It: Seventy & Sunny have been pouring in and I’ve so enjoyed reading them!

Just a reminder that you have until tomorrow (Friday, August 1st) at 12:00 pm CST to leave a comment to the original contest post telling me what illustrated item you’d love to have on your set of calling cards and why. (U.S. residents only for this one, please!)

The winner will score a set of 25 custom designed calling cards from Seventy & Sunny. Once the doors close I’ll randomly pick a winner that will be announced via post tomorrow afternoon. Can’t wait to see what Alyson gets to whip up!

Mad Props: July.

I was honestly a little surprised – in a good way – at all the great posts oozing out of the blogosphere this past month. Lots of people were on vacation and sans computer and/or internet, but that didn’t seem to stop them. See for yourself in Mad Props: July!

Win It: seventy & sunny.

I’ve been a teeny tiny bit obsessed with calling cards for the past few months, so I’m really excited about Win It: seventy & sunny! The oh-so-lovely Alyson from seventy & sunny (as well as the awesome blog unruly.things!) will give the winner a custom designed set of 25 calling cards.

So how do you win, you ask? Leave a comment telling me what illustrated item you’d love to have on your set of calling cards and why. Alyson’s the crafty type, so it can be pretty much anything! You have until this Friday, August 1st at 12:00 pm CST to enter. (U.S. residents only for this one, folks.) Once the doors close I’ll randomly pick a winner. May the force be with you!

Happy Weekend.

I didn’t get to post as much as I would have liked this week with being sick Monday and being swamped at work most of the week. (Damn the Man!) That really just means that next week’s posts are going to be totally awesome and rad. Seriously.

This Weekend:
• hopefully unpack the last few boxes (NOTE: this does not mean I’m done moving in any, way, shape or form!)
• laundry, baby
• J’s farewell party
• A’s Screw Being 30 Bash
• house decorating
• maybe some shopping tossed into the mix somewhere if I can swing it!

Dog Days of Summer.

Oklahoma gets freakin’ H-O-T in the summer.

Example #1
When I moved here in 1998 to attend college we had 100º days well into October. Back in Pennsylvania where’d I’d moved from it was already jacket weather. Talk about a shock to the system…

Example #2
OK usually hits its temperature peak from mid-July through mid-September. To affirm this, the mercury has popped up into the triple-digits for the past two days and is predicted to hit 102º this weekend. Fan-freakin-tastic. (RE: I hate it) It’s literally too hot to be outside.

Wishin’ And Hopin’.

I wish this were me for two reasons.

1. It’s 100º here today. And while that’s extremely hot (and icky) it seems like a phenomenal day to scorch myself on the beach.

2. I’d have this smokin’ hot bod.

Happy Weekend.

Wow. That’s all I can say about the past week because it has been one ginormous blur. I know I keep saying it, but I can’t thank you all enough for all the warm wishes, congratulations, advice, etc. It’s made the house buying process that much sweeter! I promise to be more focused next week, but in the meantime have an amazingly beautiful summer-filled weekend.

This Weekend:
• um, unpack more: finish kitchen and move on to living room
• buy shelving for the garage (holy crap – I have a garage!)
• find better (RE: more modern) house numbers
• sleep, cause I haven’t been doing much of that

Loading.

I am having some major draggage issues today. After having Monday and Tuesday off (but really working harder those days than when I’m at the office) I’m struggling to get back into the swing of life. And then just when I somehow manage to it will be the weekend. So really, how much effort should I be putting into this??

Back in Action.

10 Things I’ve Learned in the Past 4 Days:

1. Painting is hard work.
Especially six rooms of painting in two days time. My arms literally felt like they could be in slings, so I’m clearly not cut out for daily manual labor. Needless to say, I harbor a newfound respect for people who paint for a living.

2. People leave one thing when they move out of a house: DIRT.
Really gross dirt. Cabinet dirt. Floor dirt. And the worst of all: toilet dirt. *gag*

3. I have a lot of stuff.
A. Lot. Of. Stuff. That I can’t wait to go through and purge. Some will end up in the trash, but most will go to Goodwill. I’m happy to say that everyone who helped me paint my little heart out this weekend did not leave empty handed!!

4. I hate tearing down cardboard boxes even more than making them.
Seriously – what a pain! Can’t they just magically disappear now that they’ve served their purpose?

5. Cats do not enjoy moving
Upon arrival at the new house they spent copious amounts of time under my bed. And in the bathroom and kitchen cabinets. Of course the first night they decided to become curious and roam around making all sorts of noise. Damn nocturnal critters!

6. I can only stand to eat fast food about once every two months.
No time, of course, to prep actual meals – you need a kitchen full of pots, pans and utensils to do that – so fast food it is. And even when I opt for the salad I still felt like crap. Can’t wait to hit up the grocery store tonight to stock up!

7. The kitchen is my favorite room.
I have more cabinet space than I could have ever hoped for. A refrigerator with an ice maker – which seems small, but is a huge deal to me. And a great triangle set-up between the fridge, stove and sink. Love it!

8. The garbage men are going to work for their paycheck this week.
Between the last owner’s trash and my ‘Moving In Trash’ it’s going to be quite the haul of crap. (And that’s not even counting all those boxes I haven’t cut down yet!)

9. I really, really like my new home.
And I hope that feeling lasts for at least a few years, because I never want to pack again!!!

10. You guys are freakin’ awesome!
Seriously. Thank you so much for and the congratulatory words and wishes. You are my favorite part of this blog.
