2013 Calendar Swap

It’s time to kickoff the 4th Annual Design Crush/Greedy Girl Calendar Swap! You’re excited, yes? I’ll be sharing 2013 calendars through the end of November to give you some beautiful options, and Caroline will be sharing some in our 2013 Calendar Swap Pinterest board too. We hope you’ll join in on the fun times ahead!

Here’s what you need to know:

By November 5th (that’s a Monday), email calendarswap@gmail.com and tell us the following:
… your name
… your email address
… the name of your blog and the name of your favorite blog
… your street address
… whether you prefer an international or in country swapmate – or does it matter?
… are you interested in sending (and receiving) more than one calendar (from different swappers)? If so, how many?

We’ll pair you up and send your swapmate’s details on or around November 12th.
You MUST have your calendar sent by December 5th.

Here are some things to keep in mind:

VALUE. Keep your calendar between $20 and $30. And, since there are some perfectly lovely and super-affordable calendars out there, you might try throwing in a few small goodies if the calendar’s value doesn’t quite add up. Also, handmade is great — just remember the suggested value.

SHIPPING. If you choose to have an international swapmate, don’t forget it will cost you a little bit more (a few dollars, maybe) to ship your calendar.

CONSIDERATION. Check out your swapmate’s website or blog, or consider getting to know his or her tastes via e-mail, to get an idea of what he or she might like.

TIMELINESS. Please, please, please send your calendar on time.

THE FINE PRINT. This is the part we hate to have to mention, but it has to be said. Though it’s rare and has definitely gotten better over the years, it never fails that at least one super swapmate sent out the most amazing calendar and received nothing in return. And that pisses us off. If you’ve dropped the ball in the past, we know who you are and we’ll be watching for you. You’re on a list. A black list.

October DIYs

As the holidays edge ever closer, the DIY gods smile down upon us ever often. Or such is the case so far this month. There have been more creative DIYs than I can keep track of, but these ten have stuck in my mind. Have you seen any great projects lately?

Time to Get Outdoorsy

It’s that time of year when I’ve got camping on the brain! (Even though I’ve camped approximately 2.5 times in my life. And all before the age of 13. But that’s neither here nor there.) You know what they say about a great adventure, half the fun is getting there. Well in this case, half the fun is in the stuff you take there with you. Not exactly glamping, but pretty damn close.

The Occa Maison Marine Lantern for some after dark ambiance. A Brass Stowaway Capsule to keep matches dry and you headed in the right direction. Several Banquinho Stools for gathering around the campfire. Some DIY hand-painted mugs for everyone to take home after the trip as a memento. An enamel long handled warmer for heating hot chocolate and hot toddies. And of course some stylish Marshmallow Twig Roasters for s’mores. (Duh.) Last but not least, lots of cozy Pendleton camp blankets to keep the chill out.

Yummus Hummus

It’s like I’m giving ideas away here, Yummus Hummus would be the perfect name for a hummus-only cafe! But back to the task at hand. Hummus, don’t you love it? I’m not a big fan of the chickpea on its own, but blend it up with some spices and whatnot and I’m all over it. I have yet to make my own hummus, but these are the recipes I’ve got bookmarked for when the time comes. As always, click on the image to go to the recipe and source.

Call Me, Maybe

I’m sorry, I had to. That song is too damn catchy for its own good (but you already know that). I’m not getting a new iPhone 5 just yet, but I am in the market for a fresh look for fall and winter. Really feeling the leather backed one, lower right.
