Redraven Studios

Red Raven Studios-1-Design Crush

I began following Redraven Studios several years before moving back to Pittsburgh, in fact I didn’t even know they were from my hometown at that point. Founder Amy Hamley and her husband Ryan create the prettiest porcelain pieces – I had their Good Luck Porcelain Horseshoe hanging above my front door for several years and it was always complimented. This holiday season I’m eyeballing the Porcelain & Gold Leaf Feather Ornament for my tree (and maybe a few lucky recipients) along with the Canyon Series Dinnerware that is forever on my Wish List.

Drake General Store x Design Crush Giveaway

Drake General Store x Design Crush-1

Drake General Store is a traditional hotel gift shop, a classic general store, a flea market stand, and a museum shop all rolled into one. They have the biggest and best Canadian pride and love supporting homegrown artists and designers, making them a perfect match for Design Crush and our sensibilities.

Please tell me you took 1.5 seconds to read that graphic, because we’re giving away a $1,000 prize pack! Drake General Store is my favorite shop north of the U.S. border and I’m pumped to be partnering with them for the second December in a row to give you all a HUGE something awesome. I’ve cherry picked my favorite pieces from their classic, modern goods that are a mix of sensible (socks, throws, kitchen pieces) and not so sensible (tarot cards, incense, wind chime) and everything in between.

Molly M Designs

Molly M Designs-1-Design Crush

“They” say that you can’t do everything well, that you should find your specialty and hone in on it. Practice and practice until it’s perfect. And then you come across someone like Molly McGrath and you realize “they” couldn’t have been more wrong. McGrath is one of those people who can most easily be categorized as a designer, but whose abilities go much deeper. As the talent behind Molly M Designs, McGrath creates jewelry (15 collections thus far), homewares (coasters, trivets, prints, one of a kinds), and pouches. Just goes to show, sometimes a broad spectrum can be a very good thing.

Hula

Hula-1-Design Crush

The Hula line by Reiko Kaneko is killing me. Softly. Each ring pendants is crafted from fine bone china then accented with gold or platinum (or kept naked) and suspended from a gold or silver chain. Each style is available in both single and double rings, and all are pleasantly affordable.

betsy & iya

Betsy&Iya-1-Design-Crush

It’s been awhile since I last checked in with Portland-based jewelers betsy & iya, to the tune of three and half years. While the line has clearly grown and matured, they’ve also stayed true to their roots. My favorite new pieces include what’s referred to as “painted pods” that feature either a rainbow of vivid colors or a more downplayed muted palette of neutrals. This micro collection runs the gamut of earrings, necklaces, rings, and bracelets.

Tiro Tiro’s Cercis Collection

Tiro Tiro-Cercis-1-Design Crush

There are certain collections I wait for each season, inevitably wondering how it would even be humanly possible to best their last. Tiro Tiro is one of them. Teresa Robinson’s latest – Cercis – is a mad dance between brass and linen fringe that is perfectly choreographed. I think the Cercis Earrings are my favorite out of the fourteen piece collection.
