January Favorites

1/ Adagio Teas Glass Water Kettle
I’ve owned this kettle for a year or two and absolutely love it. This month reminded me just how much and I’ve been using it for everything from heating water for tea to watering my plants!

2/ DeLonghi Radia S Eco Digital Full Room Radiant Heater
My stepdad gave me (and my old house) this room heater for Christmas to help cut down on the gas bill. It’s completely silent, has an energy-saving ECO function, a bunch of safety features, and so much more.

3/ Stoneware Mug
Another Christmas gift, these mugs feel very substantial in your hand and I really like their handmade look.

4/ La Croix Key Lime Sparkling Water
I’m really into the latest flavor from La Croix – Key Lime. It has more flavor that their regular lime flavor and it helps me cut back on my one-a-day soda habit.

5/ Salsbury Industries 4600 Series Standard Horizontal Traditional Mailbox
Though it hasn’t been installed yet, I love the clean lines of this clean and simply designed mailbox. It’s a bit larger than the one I currently have and I look forward to larger mail not hanging out.

6/ Gilchrist & Soames Camden Set
I was sent a few sets of bath sheets, hand towels, and washcloths earlier in January and love them. Super soft, super luxurious, and perfect for the chilly wintery transition from birthday suit to clothing.

7/ DW Home Tobacco Noir
My favorite candle lately has been this one that smells of tobacco, vanilla musk, and tonka beans. It’s a lovely, heavier scent perfect for winter months.

8/ Sally Hansen Big Cuticle Oil
This coconut-infused oil has been helping my nail beds stay nice and hydrated with less hangnails.

9/ Milk Makeup Lip + Cheek in Swish
I’d been wanting to try something from this line for months, and when my blush got low I picked this up. The color is a fantastic bright pink that can be worn sheer or layered up for more coverage.

Chyrum Lambert

Los Angeles-based painter Chyrum Lambert has many skills in his creative bag, and uses several at a time to create his art. Inks, dyes, stains, acrylics, waxes, epoxies, and oils are all painted onto paper or fabric before being cut apart with an Xacto blade, and reformed into a very organic feeling finished piece.

Marija Verde

Flora, fauna, and striking a pose – somehow artist Marija Verde makes it all seem perfectly natural. I’m really drawn to her loose, flowing style and the way she embraces the white space in each piece.

Die-Cut Photo Cards

These die-cut photo cards from Belle & Union are reminiscent of vintage matted photos, with no tape or adhesive necessary to secure them. The hidden message on each of the six cards is the sweetest little surprise. Choose from Honest to Goodness, Just My Type, No Place Like Home, Pretty As a Picture, Sweeter Than Honey, and Work of Art or opt for the box set.

Dan Gluibizzi

Portland-based artist Dan Gluibizzi relies on his own astute observations and ability to construct a visual collection to create his multifaceted grouped compositions. The way people hold a beer bottle, different aspects of sexuality, and how we curate our online personas are just a few behaviors Gluibizzi portrays in his paintings.

Nachos 15 Ways

Last week we shared a bunch of basic vs fancy foods for the Super Bowl, and today we’re narrowing it down even further with some of the most amazing nacho recipes I’ve ever seen. Lots of borrowing from other statement dishes and turning them into the most brilliant of snack foods! Out of these fifteen surely there’s at least one to peak your interest…

Klas Ernflo

Swedish artist Klas Ernflo takes a very graphic approach to his art, showing off an incredible understanding of color and pattern. Ernflo’s clean and simple approach to his work harkens back to a mid-century vibe with lots of curved corners and vibrant palettes that demand a second look.

The Chamomile Tea Party

Back in 2010 graphic designer Jeff Gates started remixing World War II propaganda posters with new text and altered imagery focused on the current political environment in the United States. It’s all done under the guise of The Chamomile Tea Party, and so far he’s created over 100 of them! What’s more, every single one is available for free high res download! Of course if you’d rather buy a print you can do that as well, right here.)
