In this recipe for Bread and Tomato Soup, the chunks of stale bread take on an almost custard-like texture and break up the acidity of the tomatoes nicely. It would be the perfect dish for a rainy day like we’re having right now!
I’m thrilled that Erin, of Vale Design blog fame, has opened her own shop – Vale Design Paper Goods! The store is all about printables, which I love – no shipping required. Currently being offered are stationery and three favor box templates with more designs expected to roll in over the next few weeks. If you haven’t tripped over there yet, now is the time to do so. Congratulations Erin!
Personas is an application that searches your name on the web and returns a profile of what it finds. Check out mine above – it found my online and social presence and all my mentions of books, fashion and art. The fame and sports mentions are sort of puzzling, unless I’m a big pro athlete in a foreign country and just failed to mention it to you all…
Personas is a component of the Metropath(ologies) exhibit, currently on display at the MIT Museum by the Sociable Media Group from the MIT Media Lab. It uses sophisticated natural language processing and the Internet to create a data portrait of one’s aggregated online identity. In short, Personas shows you how the Internet sees you.
I hate to be a pain, but if you haven’t updated your feed reader or bookmark for Design Crush to www.designcrushblog.com yet please take five seconds and do it. For me. My birthday is in a few months and I’ll just go ahead and consider my early present from you. (Thanks so much! I absolutely love it.)
Caipirinha (KIE-PUR-REEN-YAH) is the national drink of Brazil and I had the good fortune of being introduced to it by a Brazilian roommate while interning in Chicago a few years ago. It’s super duper easy and versatile, so you can try whatever muddled fruit you like. This is one of my favorite versions – a Raspberry Caipirinha.
Raspberry Caipirinha • 1 C raspberries • 2 Tbsp sugar to taste • 3 oz Cachaça • crushed ice
Muddle raspberries and sugar together, using a muddler or a wooden spoon until the sugar is dissolved and the juice of the raspberries is released.Fill the glass with crushed ice. Add 2 ounces Cachaça. Garnish and serve. Serves one.
These Grilled Caprese Stacks look like a little bite of heaven! I hadn’t ever tried polenta until this past spring and am absolutely hooked. The idea of it paired with yummy mozzarella, tomato and basil is almost too much for me to bear.
Able is a branding and design firm located just outside of Philly. These animal prints are some of the things they create during their downtime. I think Edmund is my favorite, thanks to his big eyes and bright colors.
This room looks just like Saturday afternoon to me. Open windows, a stack of books and lots of light. I love the open airy feeling of this nook with hanging lanterns and a wall covered in art with ornate, monochromatic frames. I can just imagine myself curled up with a good book and a mug of coffee. And those really are the best rooms, aren’t they?
