Terrarium.

So I know terrariums are all the rage right now, but I have to be honest when I say I wasn’t really on the bandwagon. But as of about 9:00 this morning I’ve officially bought my one-way ticket to Terrariumville, thanks to M&Stetson’s DIY post.

I’m not sure what it was about this post that made me all of sudden love terrariums, but I can’t wait to get my hot little hands on some succulents and get to work! I’m picturing one smack dab in the middle of my dining table (which should be accompanied by the Nordmyra chairs according to most of you).

Sweet.

At least once a week I’m reminded of just how much I loved living in Minneapolis. This week it’s courtesy of Sweet, a chocolate shop that resides in the Twin Cities. Love the color palette and bold, yet demur graphics. I guarantee that if I were lucky enough to get my hands on this one, the packaging wouldn’t go anywhere near the trash.

The Hayworth Collection.

One of my very favorite books is The Great Gatsby and lately I’m seeing loads and loads of things that look like they just left Jay’s abode. Like the Hayworth Collection from Restoration Hardware. The Daily Eat: Biscuits with Balsamic Strawberries and Honey Sour Cream.

I’m excited to announce that The Daily Eat is headed in a slightly new and improved direction – each week will feature a specific ingredient or variety of food. Instead of my usual all over the place-ness things will be a little more organized and focused around these parts. And maybe (just maybe) this newfound sense of direction will somehow rub off onto the rest of my day.


This week? Strawberries. Why? Because they’re absolutely everywhere at the moment and I can’t resist their bright red goodness.

I’m kicking it off with these biscuits with balsamic strawberries and honey sour cream. Because it’s an unlikely combination that makes me wonder what it would taste like on a hot Saturday evening. A little bit Southern. A touch gourmet. A lot of drool.

John Murphy.

John Murphy is a gifted photographer for sure, but what I’m really loving are the frames he displays his work in on his site. Beautiful baroque-style ones with splashes of brilliant color. Let’s just say there are plans in the works for a wall full in my home and leave it at that. Ahem.

Happy Weekend.

Another week. Gone. These days I’m just happy to be getting that much closer to the closing date on my house – July 9th! So on top of the weekend being here I have that to look forward to with the passing of time.

Yesterday I bought a shower curtain for the master bath. I got it at Target, but can’t locate it online to share with you! It’s from the Thomas O’Brien Vintage collection and a simple white seersucker design. I’m thinking the master bath is going to be all white linens with the only color being the paint on the walls. Don’t worry, I’ll update you once that decision is made. It’s one of the toughest so far!

This weekend:
• sand/paint my china cabinet – seriously this time
• find/buy Father’s Day gifts and cards
• a large-scale paper project (that I’ll share with you next week!)
• enjoy the sun by the pool
• take photos of the flowers I planted this week
