Paolo Serraro.

When I first saw the work of illustrator Paolo Serraro of Milan, I was completely taken aback by her use of brilliant colors with stark black and white drawings. I found it interesting that Serraro has her Masters in interior design because I find her work very similar in nature to to the sketches interior designers and architects present to clients. This, above all else, seems to influence her illustrations.

ATYPYK.

I came across ATYPYK about a month ago on my daily web search and was really impressed with their ability to find design that is both conceptual and useful. With the holidays right around the corner they offer a plethora of unique gifts that will be sure to have the recipient asking “Where did you find this?!”

Clockwise from upper left: Pause bookmark, Bullseye bib, Book cutting board, Bzzz fly swatter, Ticket bookmark, Future-telling coffee cup.

Leather-Bound Merriam-Webster Dictionary.

I never really buy anything leather. Partially out of inner-turmoil about inhumane animal treatment and partially because it never really appeals to me all that much.

Right now though I’m having a horrible time talking myself out of this leather-bound Merriam-Webster dictionary available at Graphic Image. I’m loving the look of the crocodile-embossed italian calfskin, but having major issues accepting it. If only they could make a faux version I’d be sold!

Bambu White Rum.

Today may as well have been a Monday because it wasn’t good like Tuesdays generally tend to be. That means I could definitely use a cocktail when I get home tonight and I’m thinking this Bambu white rum is looking particularly yummy. Maybe something end-of-summer like a pina colada (even though I’m not generally a Girly Drink kinda gal). Whatever the drink, this bottle design is incredible. I love the mimicry of the bamboo shoot on the glass. This one would definitely be a keeper after the fact.

You Are Here.

Love, love, love this poster from Johnson Banks. It’s so clever and entirely too truthful.

“This project dates back to the mid-nineties, and was originally meant to be a tongue-in-cheek, semi-autobiographical but mainly fictional guide to graphic design for students. It soon spiralled out of control and became a bittersweet journey through the many different lives of a graphic designer.”

This is the third printing of the poster and each time a few new blurbs pop up on it. You can get one at the Johnson Banks shop for £20 plus shipping.

SQFT has some incredible rotating art and prints are generally one sale through the site.

The Gallery is owned and operated by Aaron Durnin and Kathleen Losche, who aim to use it as a conduit for emerging artist and designers in the Nashville area. Their focus is on two- and three-dimensional contemporary art. SQFT also features an ongoing exhibit of Aaron’s furniture and metalworks. Twelve shows are held per year with the openings on the first Saturday of each month.
