I love a good graphic poster and I love BKLYN Larder, put ’em together and tada! Recently released graphic-y food goodness for your walls. The salumi is calling my kitchen’s name with that vibrant red and pink palette.
I’m a total Game of Thrones nerd. After watching the first season last year I couldn’t wait for the second. So I read the entire existing series in six weeks. Obsessed! You can imagine how thrilled I was when I saw this Sigils of the Houses of Westeros poster by Darrin Crescenzi. Crescenzi took the author’s – George R. R. Martin – descriptions of each house’s mark and created beautifully simplistic icons. (He spends his days designing for Nike, can you tell?)
There’s nothing quite like real mail. A good email can be exciting, but being able to hold a tactile piece (that’s not a bill) is so much better. Opening your mailbox to a surprise card or letter can’t be beat.
I am in a constant state of missing school. I wasn’t a straight A student (more like an A-B 50/50 split), it’s the learning I miss. The bottomless well to draw from, especially in college where there were so many options from which to choose. I’m also a school and office supply junky, I doubt there’s ever been a kid (or adult) quite as enthusiastic when the big box stores roll out their masses of back-to-school inventory. Most years I limit myself to buying a fresh notebook or set of highlighters, just to satisfy the itch. But if I were to be a little more adult about it, I’d take this opportunity to freshen up my office space. Maybe with a few of these.
I’ve mentioned before, the older I get I’m getting more and more terrible at mailing out birthday cards on time. For instance, today is one of my best friend’s birthday and her card is waiting in my mailbox for pickup. I’m thinking since I gravitate towards good design that The Letter Ledger might help me get things in order and save a lot of embarrassment come 2013. (via Swissmiss)
For about a month now I’ve been following a clean eating diet, and it’s going really well. I’ve never liked meat (aside from the occasional cheeseburger), and absolutely love fruits and vegetables. And I have to say, my energy levels have been way higher than normal – BONUS. This print from Concrete Lace would a fantastic reminder about season produce to hang in the kitchen, close to the grocery list. (via Paper Crave)
Don’t even get me started on that logo, but the 2012 London Olympics kick off Friday and I couldn’t be more excited – I’m such a nerd. I guess it all started back in the Barcelona Games in 1992, when Kim Zmeskal and Shannon Miller (who I later took a college anthropology course with, FYI) faced off in gymnastics. I recorded it on VHS and rewatched the all-around competition over and over again. Like I didn’t know the end result. There’s just something so captivating about people who work so hard and are so incredibly driven towards something that gets me in the gut. Which is why I’ll be absolutely glued to the television for the next two weeks and go into a mild depression after the Closing Ceremony. Wait, is 32 too late to pick up a sport?
Epic facial hair, weird injuries, and men named after foods. Yup, we’re talking the great American pastime – baseball. Specifically Amélie Mancini’s hand-carved hand-printed Left Field Cards. I can hardly handle the awesome. (via Got a Girl Crush)
