Anek

Anek-1-Design Crush

By now you may have guessed I have an affinity for food art (even though it’s surprisingly lacking in my home). My most recent food art crush is the shop Anek and its owner, Croatian graphic designer and illustrator Ana. She says the shop and her work are about the simple pleasures of food and cooking as well as the beauty of everyday moments, something I definitely relate to.

Party Prints

Party Prints-1-Design Crush

Barcelona-based freelance illustrator Judy Kaufmann recently release a collection of four Party Prints, each highlighting her love of drawing animals, people, houses, cars, and trees. Judy’s style lends itself well to these colorful pattern-like creations that could find themselves equally at home in a nursery or living room! Pick up one or all four for yourself in Judy Kaufmann’s shop.

Mid-Century Modern inspired food art. Well, it just doesn’t get much better than that! San Francisco-based artist Jen Kindell‘s signed and numbered prints are each hand pulled using water based inks and recycled French paper. In my dreamworld I’d have a dining room with a cathedral ceiling where I could hang every one from the floor all the way up!

52 Weeks of Dogs

ShihTzuProductPhoto

Stacie Bloomfield (of Gingiber fame) has been busy, illustrating one dog breed a week for all of 2013 for her 52 Weeks of Dogs project. Yes the dogs are adorable and yes Stacie is an extremely talented lady. But what I’m most excited about is that prints are available for sale in her shop, and a portion of every sale is being donated to The Humane Society!

Elemental

Elemental-Design Crush

It’s been 144 years since George Mendeleev created the Periodic Table. Artist Joseph Perry set out to design his own circular version, one that’s meant to be read clockwise from the center outwards. Elemental is a take on such a classic design that manages to maintain the integrity of the original while adding a updated graphic twist. I’d say it’s a success.
