Stately Sandwiches

There’s definitely a trend of state-based projects making the circuit lately, and I have to say I love it. The latest is Kelly Pratt’s Stately Sandwiches. She and a group of friends around the country will be noshing on sandwiches from all 50 states, then Pratt will create a poster for each deconstructed sammie. She’s eleven states in, so stay tuned if yours hasn’t shown up just yet! (via Laughing Squid)

The Basics of Herbs

This spring I started a windowsill herb garden in my kitchen. Herbs seem to be the only things I can grow, so I stocked up on curly basil, cilantro, mint, and sweet basil. The thing is, I only know a dish or two that I like to use each of them for. Basically I have a lot of herbs and not a lot of recipes. That’s one of the reasons I got really excited when I came across Illustrated Bites’ The Basics of Herbs and some other illustrations detailing how to best prepare them. The second reason was of course the illustrations themselves. Now I’m all set to take on a crazy world of flavor, just in time for summer! (via Ritzy Bee)

I Am a Food Blog

It’s been awhile since I gave props to a foodie blog, but when I came across i am a food blog last weekend it caught my eye. Not only was the photography fantastic and the recipes delicious looking, but the past few posts have each featured a logo of sorts. And that put me over the edge. I hope this site continues down the same road, I’m really interested in what’s to come!

Bread Spoons

These bread spoons from Niels Datema are only a concept, but they have massive amounts of potential. Who doesn’t love fresh bread? I, for one, am a little too intimidated to try baking it myself. The idea behind these spoons might help with that, just fill each one with the ingredient it’s labeled after then knead. Kinda of brilliant, yes?
