So many colors, so little time! Penny Round Cushions (and covers) are so multifunctional, they’d be great for lounging outdoors or around the coffee table. Because you can never have too many seating options, yes?
I’ve been collecting glass bottles from seltzer, sangria, and sauces for months now. Last weekend I finally figured out what I wanted to do with them, make gold colorblocked home accessories of course! It’s really easy if you have a half hour to spare and makes a great display when grouped together. Wanna learn how to make your own?
What you’ll need:
• glass jar(s) or bottle(s)
• painter’s tape
• spray paint in the color of your choosing
• newsprint or garbage bag
Start with a clean container. I soaked them labels off of mine in the sink with a little dish soap, then used a green kitchen scrubber to get the glue and label off.
Next, figure out where you want your paint line to hit and use a strip of painter’s tape to make a clean line all the way around the container.
At this point move the whole project outside if you haven’t already. Lay down a piece of newsprint or a garbage bag and flip the container upside down. Spray a light coat of paint to cover the base.
Once it’s dry, flip the container back over and use a bit more painter’s tape to attach a piece of a paper that covers the part you don’t want to get paint on. Then stuff the excess paper inside the opening.
Now lightly spray the sides, making sure to overlap the tape and paper. Allow to dry, then go over again if glass is showing through.
Once the paint is completely dry remove the paper and tape. Tada! A super clean line. And now you have a vase, or pencil container, or insta-accesory.
I’m not sure I’ve ever seen clay wind chimes before, and now I can’t get enough of these pretty small disc chimes from Pigeon Toe. You even get to choose the color of the cord. I think I’d hang them inside in front of a window, couldn’t risk these beauties break in this rough Oklahoma wind!
Turkish bath towels remind me of summer, plain and simple. They’re super light and absorbent and just so colorful and happy looking. You may want to make a note on your wishlist that there’s a boat load of reasonably priced ones over in Bath Style’s shop. Just in case.
Lately I’ve been eying turntables, one of which I haven’t owned since I was 12. (It was part of my all white stereo!) Some music just sounds better on vinyl, especially the songs of my childhood. (I remember buying 9″ records with my mom. At K-Mart!) I came across the Barky Turntable the other day and thought, “Yeah, now that’s a looker.” Wonder how it sounds?
Last week Aircraft Infused ScentSticks sent me a few of their fragrances to check out. I could tell you how you can use the 12 scents alone, or mix them together to make a unique one of your own (there’s up to 1,000 possible). Or maybe I could mention that they’re made of natural, biodegradable fibers from sustainable sources. But I want to tell you what I honest to goodness love about them.
1. There’s no oil. This from the lady who’s cat once spilled an entire bottle full of fig-scented diffuser all over himself and reeked for a month. The sticks infused with it instead of sitting in it. SMART.
2. The scents are really, really good. Right now I’m using Summer Rain and it’s reminiscent of the Sunflowers perfume I wore in junior high. The same, but different. I have them in my office, but the scent subtly makes its way through the entire back half of my house.
3. I dig the look. The little ceramic holder fits right in with my decor, and it doesn’t look cheap.
Basically, I’m sold! I can’t wait to check out more of the scents, and maybe snag a few more other areas of my home.
