Lindsay Stead / Collection Quilts

Lindsay Stead’s Collection Quilts are made in small batches, maintaining the quality and integrity that her work is known for. Lindsay works closely with a group of quilters in rural Ontario to produce these heirlooms. Each quilt is designed personally by her then made by a group of women who have handed down, through generations, their knowledge of quilting. The result is a collection of modern quilts with traditional roots that you’re sure to love and cherish. You can grab your own in her shop, at Steven Alan’s home store, or in Toronto’s Mjölk.

Elnaz Nourizadeh

Iran-born, Melbourne-living Elnaz Nourizadeh started working with clay and learning pottery when she was 17 years old. In 2008 she began her professional life as a potter in Tehran, then moved up and on to having her own studio upon arriving in Melbourne in 2013. Elnaz’s explorations in clay and candy colors are striking and functional, pulling the best from both the modern and ancient ceramics.

Kähler

Kähler was family-run for four generations, from the foundation of the Kähler workshop in 1893 until 1974 when the last generation left the company. Since then the company’s focus has been on following trends and adjusting to them, which they’re remarkably good at. I can’t get enough of their homewares and hope to add some to my own collection soon.

Lumiere Art and Co.

Really pretty home goods (and jewelry, clothing, art, etc.) are coming out of Australia these days. Mornington Peninsula-based designer Emma Cleine loves to experiment with dyeing and printing techniques that result in touches of painterly perfection or graphic sophistication in the pieces she creates at Lumiere Art and Co.

Pot Cradle

After years and years of lamenting my black thumb things have finally begun to turn around. I have about fifteen plants of varying sizes thriving in my home right now, and I’m quickly running out of horizontal real estate. That’s where the Pot Cradle would be a huge help. More modern than a macrame holder, these little bags would also help eliminate spills during watering (at which I’m basically a pro).

Fringe and Fettle Ceramics

Joanna Buyert is the potter behind Fringe and Fettle Ceramics, though she admits it took quite awhile to settle on one artistic discipline as a focus. After a lifetime of creating and making, Joanna went with pottery because of its endless possibilities. I love her simple functional pieces that are sure to make daily activities involving them much more pleasant.
