Project Decorate-4-Design Crush

It’s no secret that I love a good mood board or collage, and today I’m happy to share that I’m partnering with Polyvore for Project Decorate! You probably know the site best for their super easy drag-and-drop fashion boards (aka “sets”), but Polyvore is expanding into home decor and interior design. Absolutely perfect for those of us who consider creating dream homes a hobby, as well as those who do it for a living. You can  even follow me if we have similar taste.

Create a room, an inspiration board, or an entire home in a few clicks of your mouse. I’ve already pulled together a living room, bedroom, dining room, and kitchen goods that are tugging at my checking account along with a set that tells you a little bit about my style aesthetic. Not only was it fun, it’s completely addicting. There’s even an app if you need to get your fix on the go!

Now here’s the best part – visit my contest page, create a set about Modern + Bright style, and you just may win one of two $500 West Elm gift cards! That’s right, we’re giving away a total of $1,000 for you to feather your nest. So get to creating a Polyvore set with some of the pieces I’ve selected as part of my collection and be sure to tag it with #ProjectDecorate. Click here to enter and good luck!

Black and White Aztec Patter iPhone Case – Vasare Nar // Printed Long Sleeve Knit – Seed Heritage // Globetrotter Loafers – Forever21 // Winter Aztec Dress – Necessary Clothing

The new year is kicking off with Aztec-inspired prints across the board. This bold, graphic print has been popping on garments, accessories, and in the home. It’s equally eye-catching in black and white or bold colors, and lends itself especially well to cold weather essentials like cardigans and throws. I can’t wait to get on board!

Plumen 002

Plumen 002-1-Design Crush

Plumen recently launched a Kickstarter campaign for its second designer low-energy lightbulb, and holy crap the campaign is already fully funded! It’s really easy to see why, just look at Plumen 002. Art and ambience all in a lightbulb of all things. They’ll be available for purchase come September 1st and LED products are coming down the pipeline.

Rebecca Atwood + Calypso

Rebecca Atwood + Calypso-1-Design Crush

I have a mega design crush on Brooklyn-based artist Rebecca Atwood, and if possible it just got bigger. Her use of traditional textile techniques and hand painting makes my heart go pitter patter and both are on full display in the new Rebecca Atwood  and Calypso St. Barth collaboration. Four unique designs with reversible details are now available online and in stores. The white canvas, subtle metallics, and soft sea greens and blues will bright up your winter and still feel fresh and vibrant when summer rolls around! You can read more about the process on Rebecca’s blog.

Starry Light

Starry Light-1-Design Crush

I’m digging not only the Starry Light, but also its clever tongue-in-cheek name! The constellations of the Northern Hemisphere are projected onto your walls and ceiling when lit. Starry Light all began as a piece of art and after a year in development went into product mode, it’s now available in several colors and manufactured by hand.

Still-1-Design Crush

Christmas Eve seemed an exceptionally appropriate time to share these pieces from Still. Take time to reflect on the beauty of the simple things in life and the wonders of the world.

My (Imaginary) New Year’s Eve 2013

After the craziness of Thanksgiving and Christmas I like to make New Year’s Eve more low-key. A come as you are get together with good friends and family is just what the doctor ordered for a great start to a new year! Want to dress up? Go for it. Prefer pajamas? That’s cool, too. We’ll decorate some with metallics and pinks and call it a day. Everyone can bring an appetizer or dessert and I’ll provide the cocktails – sound good? Mix and mingle as you please, and if you can’t stay awake until the ball drops? No judgement. Now that’s my kinda party.
