Honey Tartine

PHOTOS: the kitchn

My newly chopped blunt bangs, essie’s poppy red Lacquered Up polish, and some serious black eyeliner are making me feel quite French today. The oatmeal I ate for breakfast did not. I bet this Honey Tartine from Anne of Pret a Voyager could change all that. {via the kitchn}

Anne’s Honey Tartine

• ficelle (or baguette), cut in half and toasted
• generous pats of French butter
• gobs of honey
• sprinkling of flake salt

Toast bread to desired doneness. Spread with butter, honey and sprinkle with a little salt.

Knock Knock

I love to be organized on paper, even though nine times out of ten it doesn’t translate over to my real life. (It’s the thought that counts, right??) This morning I received an awesome package from Knock Knock with their Around the House Tablet, Vs. Journal, and Life Log that made my day. I’ve long been a fan of their smart and witty organizational tools and can’t wait to put these new pieces to work for me.

pEi pod

I already know that one pEi pod would not be enough in our house, there would have to be three. Two cats and a dog would definitely not fit into one of these cave-like structures without a fight. My favorite part aside from the modern shape? The cushion options!

Dreamy Watercolors

Watercolor has always been an extremely fascinating medium to me, most likely because it’s one I’ve failed to master even after repeated attempts. The combination of extreme control mixed with wreckless abandon is incredibly beautiful, so I’ve been really happy to see it being used more often in recent months. It’s also inspired me to pick up my paints and give it one more shot…

Merit Badges

I never did the Girl Scout thing, but I remember how satisfying it felt to get a sticker on my homework or a gold star on my chore chart for a job well done. There’s something to be said about positive reinforcement, and I doubt it’s only me thinking adulthood really isn’t all that easy. Check out these merit badges from Disorderly Goods, twelve embroidered badges for things like “using your powers for good, not evil” and “giving a shit”. Super smart.

Ear Candy

Sound is an art, so I think it naturally matters what we’re listening to it through. You can pick up a portable stereo on the cheap, or you can invest in something a little more awesome that’s also going to be a great conversation piece. Something you’re likely to keep around for years and years to come that’s going to be a mainstay in your home. I live and breathe through my Bose SoundDock, but there are so many great options out there. What are you listening through?
