Dealtry

Dealtry-1-Design Crush

I’m on a scarf kick so far this fall, and my latest of note are by Dealtry. Floral textile designer Helen Dealtry tells a bit about the inspiration behind each scarf’s design. Each one is painted in her Brooklyn studio, then woven in a mix of modal and cashmere and digitally printed in India. (She also has a rather fantastic Instagram feed if you’re into that kind of thing.)

Ladies & Gentlemen Studio

Ladies & Gentlemen Studio-1-Design Crush

I first took notice of Ladies & Gentlemen Studio after seeing their modern wind chimes, but when I dug a little deeper I realized that was only a tiny part of their clean aesthetic and offerings. The Seattle-based design studio is an ever-evolving set of ideas and experiments in small objects, home decor goods, jewelry, to furniture, lighting, and beyond. Here are some of my favorites.

Pablo S. Herrero

Pablo S Herrero-1-Design Crush

I couldn’t come up with a more appropriate body of work to feature for the start of my favorite month if I tried. While Pablo S. Herrero is best known for his large scale murals, I’m smitten with his work on India ink on paper. The dark and stormy forests he creates are deep enough to suck you right in and keep you there for a bit.

K9 Couture Co.

K9 Couture Co-1-Design Crush

K9 Couture Co. is a small, locally owned company I was introduced to shortly before leaving Oklahoma City. Crystal Young is the dog collar creator, as well as a veterinary tech, with a passion for animals. (A girl after my own heart!) She borrowed her mother-in-law’s sewing machine, taught herself how to use it, and K9 Couture Co. was born. Everything is chosen and made by Crystal herself. The collars are especially comfortable for your pup with a dose of style for you.

House of Cardboard

House of Cardboard-1-Design Crush

Zoey Taylor and David Connelly – also known as Dosshaus – are the creators behind House of Cardboard, which is exactly what it sounds like. Cardboard, paint, and glue are the only things comprising everything from Zoey’s outfit (she’s the model) to the furniture to the more detailed pieces. If you’re a bit obsessed with the intricacies I totally get it, because I’m right there with you.
