Kristina Krough‘s artwork is inspired by different materials, their surfaces, and the ways they interact with one another. They can feel cold, warm, soft, hard, heavy, or light. Krough works with marble, ply, wood, cork, and paper to create the most interesting natural/manipulated results.

DODOnotes

DODOcase-2-Design-Crush

DODOcase and Mohawk Paper have teamed up to create a notebook that’s also a case for your iPhone. DODOnotes is rocking my world, because though I rely on my phone for a lot I still prefer paper for note taking. I never use the Notes app and instead carry bundles of lists, which can make for a big mess in my small purse. Looks like my problem is solved in a clean old-school-meets-modern way!

Have a Cocktail On Crispin Finn

objects by Crispin Finn

Crispin Finn are a duo who design using only the colors red, white, and blue. I’m always interested in artists who put very specific limitations on their style, and I have to say these two have nailed it. I’m especially drawn to their four cocktail prints – Champagne, Negroni, Old Fashioned, and Caipirinha – which along with all of their work is produced, packaged, and shipped by hand.

Georgina Vinsun

Georgina Vinsun-1-Design Crush

I’m loving the expressive abstract paintings of artist Georgina Vinsun these days. I enjoy how Georgina keeps the same overall composition within each piece, yet changes the look and emotion conveyed through her use of color and brushstrokes. Usually that would bore me, but this is definitely a case of doing it right.

Hollywood Star Charts

Hollywoord Star Charts-1-Design Crush

If you’re in any way a film buff, you’re going to want to read closely. Check out DOROTHY’S Hollywood Star Charts, celebrating some of the most culturally significant films and actors to have graced the silver screen since 1927. There are two different versions – one featuring Golden Age stars at the other Modern Day. Both re-imagine constellations as American films and re-name the stars that make up the clusters after the Hollywood greats that appeared in them. So good.
