Cafe Nova.

For my birthday last Sunday a group of friends and I headed to Cafe Nova for a late brunch. Specializing in contemporary American cuisine the brunch menu was short, but sweet. My favorite part being the Champagne Brunch which includes unlimited mimosas with any item on the menu – woohoo! Cafe Nova also has some amazing art that is part of a revolving exhibition. This eatery is a defnite regular on my list.

Civilettes.

In a world where there are plenty of chances to be rude and inconsiderate on a daily basis, Civilettes give us an opportunity to focus on the good for a change. These portable thank-yous are designed to fit into a purse, pocket or wallet and guaranteed to impress the recipient. Each card is aided by the “Please reuse” printed on the back urging the paying forward of the much under-used and always appreciated Thank You.

Miami-Miam.

The Orbit bowls from Miam-Miam’s Mushroom Colection make me want to toss out my dishes. Don’t get me wrong, I think mine are great but these just make them seem so boring. The combination of white porcelain and futuristic design is gorgeous.

Then there are the Espresso Towers. The combo of stainless steel and porcelain work together to keep your beverage the perfect temperature. I love the rounded-square shape with those great saucers.

If anything these are at least guaranteed to make your cereal and coffee a real experience!

Bitch.

I had an amazing birthday weekend despite the very un-fun cold I was hosting. One of my very favorite gifts was the bottle of Bitch Grenache wine my best friend Linnzi surprised me with. The wine more or less named itself: the grapes are a bitch to grow for the winemakers at R Winery. Among design-y type things I adore are wine labels, and this one is incredibly simple and light-hearted (the ingredients are bitch, bitch, bitch, etc). Definitely girly and a great birthday present. (Thanks L-Dawg!)

On the Rocks: Paloma.

The Paloma is similiar to a carbonated margarita – who wouldn’t love that? A bit summery, I know, but I couldn’t resist.

Ingredients:
– 1 1/2 ounces 100 percent agave reposado tequila
– Juice of 1/2 medium lime
– Grapefruit-flavored soda (such as Squirt or Fresca)

Fill an 8-ounce glass with ice, add tequila and lime juice, and top off with soda.

Make My Logo Larger Cream.

This is ridiculously funny and had me cracking up and wide awake first thing this morning. The worse part is just how painfully true it rings. If you’re not a graphic designer or art director the video may not tickle your funny bone, but it will give you plenty of ideas on how to make our lives a living hell. Kudos to Agency Fusion for the painful truth.

Luxe Poncho.

I’ve fallen in love. This time with the Luxe Poncho.

Our office is so chilly that I find myself wearing my jacket all day long. And I can tell ya, that’s not gonna fly all winter long which means that I need to find some warmer clothes that aren’t outerwear. Enter the Luxe Poncho. I love that it’s waist-length – okay, maybe not on my 5’2″-ness… – and has those great patch pockets.

Martha Martha Martha.

It’s entirely too early to start posting about holiday decor, but oh well. The first post was going to happen sooner or later here at Design Crush and what better way to start things off than with Martha Stewart’s holiday collection at Macy’s. It’s the jewel tones that really get me as well as the kugel ornaments. And though the wreath of ornaments in the center is only a display of colors available, what a great idea for a project. That sneaky Martha and her crew just continue to out-do themselves again and again. (Which partially explains my love/hate relationship with the woman!)
