Valentine’s Cake.
I am craving cake something awful today! This Valentine’s Cake looks amazing – you just can’t go wrong with chocolate cake, cheesecake and strawberry topping all stacked together.

Posted In holidays, recipes, valentine's dayPaul Rand is amazing. I’m not sure how I haven’t seen this tribute film from the 2007 One Show, but this morning as I watched it I couldn’t help but think everything that came out of Rand’s mouth was so true and so quotable.
My favorite? “Don’t try to be original. Just try to be good.” If you’re good the originality should follow naturally.

Posted In graphic design, see itWith V-Day drawing near some of the best ideas are popping up.
Spin Me is an updated version of Spin the Bottle that ups the stakes a bit to make it more a little ‘R’ than ‘G’ rated. And do I even need to say it? Great looking design.

Posted In entertainingAh, yes. For all the masses Wii Lovers out there. So sweet and, thankfully, not too saccharine and girly.
Posted In cards, holidays, paper goods, valentine's dayIn theory these alphabetical paperclips would make me highly organized. I honestly just like the design and curves.
Posted In officeAs with pretty much everywhere else in the country right now, the weather is cold and gross. The freezing rain just started coming down about a hour ago and although it’s not bad enough to leave work for home, it is bad enough to make all of the idiot drivers drive even worse. Ugh.
I love this pitcher always, but today because it makes me think about the warm (okay, sweltering) days of summer that are waiting for their turn. It’s brilliant because of the nifty little insert. Put your ice inside of it instead of directly into your beverage to avoid things getting watered down.
Posted In grand design, kitchenNot only am I obsessed with the unusual names of CB I Hate Perfume’s line of fragrances (i.e. in the Library, Burning Leaves and in the Summer Kitchen), but I love the minimalist packaging and type. It’s a win-win.
Nothing sparks the memory so powerfully as scent. We know this to be true. One small whiff can tell vividly of a time long gone; perhaps of a moment we thought lost forever yet suddenly, in a flash, we live it again. The perfumes in this collection all speak of single shining points of time in my own life. Though we share perfume with those around us when we wear it, still it always tells a very private Secret History. The scents in this collection may tell of mine but when you wear them, they will tell only of yours.
So well said. Now I can’t help but notice the white musk I’m wearing today and realize that I bought it because it reminds me of my freshmen year in high school…
Posted In beauty bag, packagingJessica Rust is one talented lady and I’m digging her latest addition to the Personalized Birch line – this large oval birch platter. I love the detailing on the trunk and the personalized “carving” of initials that she can do when you purchase one. And that shadow? Makes the piece in my opinion by giving it some unexpected depth. Make sure and check out the rest of her site for lots and lots of stunning pieces.
Posted In kitchenWitty set of four espresso cups in differing tones of brown to suit your coffee strength and tastes. Comes in glossy brown packaging, it will make the best present for the design-conscious coffee lover.
Love the rich browns. Makes me want to drink even more java than I already do!
Posted In kitchenI wish this were true.
I’m glad that someone thinks it is.
