I have a few lovely glazed pieces in my home, but recently I’ve found myself drawn to the look even more. Reiko Kaneko designs fine bone china in elegant, functional shapes; glassware and terracotta that is beautifully thin and light; and pure white china dipped in rich glazes. And I love that there’s constant experimentation in the studio with new reactive glazes!

Two words come to mind when viewing Francoise Nielly‘s paintings – raw and emotional. Each portrait is created with Nielly’s trademark palette knife technique, making every vividly hued face feel that much closer to a sculpture.

Nynne Rosenvinge is a Danish brand by a Copenhagen-based artist/designer of the same name. The shop’s virtual walls are filled with interior objects and art that are all produced in Denmark. My favorites can be seen above and below.
Paperweight #004 // Art #502 Velour Poster (Dusty Grey) // Notebook Circle //
Orb #200 // Wall Hanging No 1000
German-born jewelry artist Carina Shoshtary has created some of the most out of the box pieces I’ve seen of late in her What’s Left of Krypton series. Shoshtary uses broken pieces of previously graffitied walls, combining them to form the most interesting brooches and necklaces.

Light and Ladder excels on one particular point that I consider in every purchase for my home – elevating the everyday through beauty and function. The Brooklyn-based design studio strives to create objects that are thoughtful, useful, and made to last through inspiration from simplicity of the natural world and the geometric lines of the modern city. I’d call the union a wild success.

If you follow @designcrush on Instagram you’ve probably noticed the resurrection of #365quotes in the form of #365quotes2016. When the end of last year rolled around and people were still lamenting the original project’s demise I figured I’d give it another go! This year the design is a bit different, I’ve abandoned the daily handwritten style in favor of something more type driven and time saving. But rest assured that no less time is spent choosing just the right words.

As a steadfast beard lover, I of course gravitated toward Sarah Tanat-Jones‘ illustrated Beards of the World. The 28-page picture zine depicts “fashionable facial follicles across continents and cultures” and even includes your own beard to cut out. You know, for those of us who can’t really produce our own. Pick up your copy right here.
