Few things are as impossibly difficult to mimic visually as human skin, the exception possibly being for painter Edie Nadelhaft. Her minuscule paint strokes make every piece in this series – Flesh – nearly mistakable for photos. And with good reason, Nadelhaft uses digital photography to ensure she captures each and every detail flawlessly.
Some girls love purses, I love bags. Especially ones founded on helping others. Matthew Clough came up with the idea for his company, Stone & Cloth, while climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. After learning that his porter didn’t make enough money to send his children to school Clough returned home to L.A. and set up a business model for selling great bags and raising funds to help students in Tanzania. What a go getter!

Being part of a successful collaboration is one of the best feelings (you work well with others!), and it’s even better when it looks this good. Dusen Dusen and Highlow Jewelry teamed up after being mutual fans, doing a product swap with one another, then joking about selling a dress and necklace combo pack. After noticing people were already pairing their two brands together Ellen van Dusen and Sonya Gallardo decided to combine the two, creating this pattern laden collection – Dusen Dusen x Highlow Jewelry.
I think we can all agree that Valerie Hammond‘s wax sculptures are creepy and so freaking awesome. Working with wax, silk, and wire, she manipulates each delicate material to create these mildly disturbing results. Please don’t stop, Valerie. Please don’t stop.
Dutch textile designer Mae Engelgeer opened her own studio waaay back in 2014 in Amsterdam. By combining new technology and materials she creates the most stylish of textile collections, two of which are launching this summer. POP is a bright and playful towel series, while JET is its minimal and neutral counterpart.
I’m definitely drawn to the softness behind each of Brazilian artist Anália Moraes‘ paintings. (Well, that and her penchant for pink.) Her series of faceless women set in sparse settings are storytelling in its simplest form.
When a bag can be your only accessory you know you’ve hit on something extra good. Future Glory Co. is a San Francisco-based shop that designs and handcrafts structural bags and accessories that support social causes. But my favorite aspect is that the leather is a by-product of the food industry, and all remaining scraps are donated to non-profits or schools.
I don’t know a ton about Karmen Ayvazyan‘s backstory, but I love the outcome of everything she puts into her work. Her Hair series feeds right into my love of any and all art that includes the stuff.
I think tobacco does more harm than good, so I’m definitely not condoning its use by sharing these Tetra x Various Keytags Lighters. But I think everyone needs a good lighter for other fire-related uses – campfires, candles, etc – and love the cheeky sayings by Brian Janusiak and Elizabeth Beer .
