A self-proclaimed treasure hunter, Alexandra emailed me last week to share her new venture – Blue Carrot Shop. It’s full of all her great finds, everything from housewares to the handmade. My favorite section is letterpress. I’d love to have a bit of wall filled with beautiful wood type.
Spring officially makes its debut this weekend! Today we’re experiencing 70º weather, but tomorrow is promising somewhere between 6 and 14 inches of snow and a high of 39º. File that under Things That Make You Go Hmm. I plan on visiting a good dive bar tonight with some friends, then pending the snowstorm possibly hitting up a roller derby bout tomorrow among other things. Happy Weekend!
This is the best part of my Monday so far. The Color Theory Quick Reference Poster. Great for explaining a color choice to a client or just for yourself. The unbelievable thing? It’s free. As a PDF, desktop wallpaper and even an editable .eps file. And Print.
I love this series of posters by Simon Page. He apparently started designing them as a side project, but when the folks over at the International Year of Astronomy set eyes on them they decided to use the posters as promos. The flat fields of color and old-school look really tickles my fancy. {via Kitsune Noir}
I’ve been staring at Chris Ware’s Halloween cover for the New Yorker off and on over the past few days and have decided I love it. Very, very much so in fact. Definitely enough to want a print of it. {via Boing Boing}
Hello, weekend! I’m so, so very happy to see you again. And really looking forward to the Greek festival, the OU game, Ghouls Gone Wild and boot shopping! (If you could somehow make my clean underwear supply last until Monday so that I don’t have to do laundry just yet, that would rock.)
NOTES:
• You have until Monday at 9am CST to enter and win one of Marta’s oh-so-cute mini diaries!
• The time left to enter the 2010 Calendar Swap is starting to wind down, but there’s still a few days left. If you need some inspiration check out my calendar roundups 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5!
When I first laid eyes upon this invitation for AIGA NY’s The Dinner Party all I could see was the awesome type and design. But then I was all “Oh my gosh, it’s on a white dress shirt that a guy is wearing!” and it’s a poster. That’s the best kind of design, the kind that makes you look beyond.
