Today I want to share Madesmith with you, a phenomenal site that brings us the work and stories of makers and designers who produce sustainable handmade objects. Each week a new creator is shared, bringing maker and buyer closer together. They craft exclusive and limited edition textiles, jewelry, shoes, accessories and home goods for Madesmith that are often one of a kind unique products made in USA. Totally something I can support!

I’ve noticed recently that I’m not as drawn to subject matter so much as as style and technique when it comes to paintings. And that holds true with the work of Guy Yanai. His brushstrokes glide across the canvas in a single layer of colored stripes, almost like a printer spewing out a beautifullly bright document. (via Design Mom)

Nathalie Boutté‘s paper art is one of those things I look at and wish that I had created. Nathalie builds up each collage piece with layer after layer of long, narrow strips of paper that ultimately end up creating a feathered effect that’s forever evolving through movement.

I’m more than a little in love with Eve Sand‘s modern minimal landscapes. Each series is created in a different color palette that feels so perfect for the scenes she is setting up for us. I swear I feel more relaxed just looking at them! (Which is your favorite?)

You might know Jaime Derringer as the founder and executive editor of the mega-blog Design Milk, but she’s also a ridiculously talented artist in her own right. After taking a bit of a break for the birth of her daughter, Jaime picked up her art again at the start of 2013 with wild abandon with daily explorations in her A Shape a Day Project, endless line drawings, and intense multimedia pieces. Jaime is also a close friend of mine, and I love how her mixed media creations thrive on happy accidents – the exact opposite of her Type A personality. You can purchase Jaime’s work through her Etsy shop or Society6, and I know prints will be happening sooner than later!
