I haven’t come across much fun art lately, that is until AnaHell‘s Secret Friends crossed my screen. She creates her quirky fun characters by having people almost fold themselves in half, then draws any number of expressions on their bare backs before posing them in a random environment and photographing them in a documentary style. If this doesn’t make you smile, well I don’t know what to say.
I’ve been having tons of summer daydreams this week after an especially unseasonably cold and rainy weekend. Anna Valdez‘s works are a light at the end of the tunnel leading to lazy picnics and coffee-filled sidewalk cafe mornings. My favorite, her Still Life series, is full of lovely oil paintings created using her own household belongings to explore traditions and history.
Korean artist Moon Chanpil explores the complicated relationship between predator and prey in this series of four paintings. The different levels of both traits apparent in each piece are hauntingly fascinating.
I’d be thrilled if today was as light-filled as these Mirror Mobiles from Elkeland. The Danish studio creates them from geometric shapes that reflect and bounce light once suspended. Every Monday can use a little extra light if you ask me.
I’ve been a fan of Rickianne van Kirk for awhile, and recently found out that she’s released a few iron-on patches that would definitely up my jean jacket game. Choose from Shock or Strong, then check out her Etsy shop for more of Rickianne’s art.

Photographer Maroesjka Lavigne‘s Land of Nothingness lets us explore Namibia’s scorched barren plains and washed out landscape. Nothing, upon nothing, upon nothing until all of a sudden… something. A rare sight capturing the country’s subtle scenery in the form of gas station or herd of animals. But look fast or you might just miss it.
I’m fully blaming Lori Larusso and her It’s Not My Birthday, That’s Not My Cake series on the massive craving for sweet that I’m experiencing at this very moment. Each one is acrylic and enamel on panel, but it may as well be a slice of goodness on a paper plate to me.

Few things are as impossibly difficult to mimic visually as human skin, the exception possibly being for painter Edie Nadelhaft. Her minuscule paint strokes make every piece in this series – Flesh – nearly mistakable for photos. And with good reason, Nadelhaft uses digital photography to ensure she captures each and every detail flawlessly.
Some girls love purses, I love bags. Especially ones founded on helping others. Matthew Clough came up with the idea for his company, Stone & Cloth, while climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. After learning that his porter didn’t make enough money to send his children to school Clough returned home to L.A. and set up a business model for selling great bags and raising funds to help students in Tanzania. What a go getter!
