Xuan loc Xuan is a freelance illustrator based out of Ho Chi Min City. I’m a fan of his style, in particular this series of portraits created from a mix of digital art, illustration, and painting. Be sure and check out his entire portfolio – it’s lovely in its entirety.
Being part of a successful collaboration is one of the best feelings (you work well with others!), and it’s even better when it looks this good. Dusen Dusen and Highlow Jewelry teamed up after being mutual fans, doing a product swap with one another, then joking about selling a dress and necklace combo pack. After noticing people were already pairing their two brands together Ellen van Dusen and Sonya Gallardo decided to combine the two, creating this pattern laden collection – Dusen Dusen x Highlow Jewelry.
I think we can all agree that Valerie Hammond‘s wax sculptures are creepy and so freaking awesome. Working with wax, silk, and wire, she manipulates each delicate material to create these mildly disturbing results. Please don’t stop, Valerie. Please don’t stop.
I’m definitely drawn to the softness behind each of Brazilian artist Anália Moraes‘ paintings. (Well, that and her penchant for pink.) Her series of faceless women set in sparse settings are storytelling in its simplest form.
When a bag can be your only accessory you know you’ve hit on something extra good. Future Glory Co. is a San Francisco-based shop that designs and handcrafts structural bags and accessories that support social causes. But my favorite aspect is that the leather is a by-product of the food industry, and all remaining scraps are donated to non-profits or schools.
I don’t know a ton about Karmen Ayvazyan‘s backstory, but I love the outcome of everything she puts into her work. Her Hair series feeds right into my love of any and all art that includes the stuff.
Paintings? Kind of, but more specifically hand-dyed paintings. Mineral Workshop, aka Carry Crawford, creates these uber relaxing pieces in Fairfax, California. She uses the shibori technique, using natural indigo and other plant-based dyes that she makes right in her studio. The result of her efforts feels serene and bold.
Columbian artist Juan Osorno‘s delicately illustrated pieces are something to behold. His studies are simultaneously exploratory and introspective. For more of Juan’s work and process check out his Instagram account.
Summer vibes abound in Giordanne Salley‘s paintings. Flashlight battles, plenty of bare feet, and making out abound in the wooded lands she captures in paint. I want to go to there.
I’m in the best mood this week, and influential/visionary photographer Nick Knight‘s paint explosions capture how my guts are feeling. Destruction can be so captivatingly beautiful.
