Otherworldly is the first word that came to mind after seeing Ashley Eliza Williams‘ paintings for the first time. The Boulder, Colorado-based artist’s paintings reveal glimpses of a complex internal world influenced by dreams and phenomenological experiences in nature.
Australian artist Monica Rohan is the star of her own portrait series, perpetually rifling through and searching for the unknown. With her painted face forever hidden, Rohan depends on the figures’ body language to express emotion.
Alexandra Valenti accomplishes some amazing things with color in her work, both in manipulated photography and my favorite: watercolors. While some look intentional, other takes on a nearly microbial appearance.

What at first glance looks like crumpled pages that have been ripped from fashion magazines are actually painstakingly painted pieces by Stefania Fersini. Each oil piece shows off the models as life-sized, inviting us to explore our own personal relationships with real life and the polished media.
I think I might need a new pair of shoes. And I think they might need to be hand painted by Blake Barash. He’s sold over 2,700 pairs so far in his Etsy shop, B Street Shoes. Brash favors painting on Nikes, TOMS, Vans, and Converse in his statement-making style. And yes, he does give you the freedom to customize on special orders.

Long solo drives are like therapy for me, and I’ve often thought that some of the views that pass by are some of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. Cornfields in Kansas, sunsets in Oklahoma, even my street – the list just goes on. Grant Haffner must feel the same way because his acrylic paintings capture nothing but the view, relying on color to express the energy of the open road.
