Florence-based artist Sara Falli is doing some seriously crazy stuff with watercolor. Every piece has the ability to make you feel like you’re being sucked into her imaginary world that’s filled with questionable characters, situations, and landscapes.

I tend to shy away from all things anatomical, I think I like the idea of what’s under my skin remaining a mystery. But Fernanda Uribe‘s delicate Abrazos/ Dasein paintings make me want to delve deeper, at least in her world. Abrazos translates as hugs in Spanish and dasein meaning existence in German speaks to the way organs and bones work together and protect one another.
I definitely wouldn’t be this calm with birds flapping around my face, but for some reason just looking at these paintings by Meghan Howland make me feel calm. Maybe it’s the subjects’ expressions or the incredible color palettes, I’m not really sure. But either way I’m a fan of Meghan and her work.

How is this Insta February over already?!
Lisa Madigan‘s paintings are many things. Bold and soft, evocative, fluid. For me there’s just something so raw about such saturated pigments on canvas that draws me in. Lisa’s color palettes also have me longing to get out my own canvas and paints asap.
Mark Horst says that he paints as he sees, which is why his pieces are always incomplete and in process. If you look at his portfolio, you’ll also notice that he creates the same subject over and over with small changes. I get the feeling that he’s trying to know and understand his subject matter with each pass.
Cuban-born watercolorist Lourdes Sanchez is a pro at flirting with shapes and patterns without ever committing. I swear, some of her work seems ready to leap off of the page.

Robert Roth‘s landscape paintings make me feeeeel things. Lots of them remind me of my time spent here in Oklahoma, where I’ve witnessed some of the most brilliant sunsets and driven through beautifully vast plains. I won’t even get into the thunderstorms, just know that they’re pretty epic.
