Watercolor has always been an extremely fascinating medium to me, most likely because it’s one I’ve failed to master even after repeated attempts. The combination of extreme control mixed with wreckless abandon is incredibly beautiful, so I’ve been really happy to see it being used more often in recent months. Michelle Hinebrook’s paintings make me feel like I’m living inside a kaleidoscope.
Jonathan Zawada’s Over Time exhibition is not only breathtaking, but also brilliant. The landscape topographies are created from graph data, modeled in 3D, and then oil paintings are created from those 3D renderings. I’ve been noticing loads of rad takes on comic book art lately. The latest is the Everybody Needs a Hero series by artist Anthony Lister. Loving his abstract style and cropping.
