A fantastic trio of graphic-driven City Maps from Owen Gatley. They were originally designed for the ‘Luck’ issue of Ideas Illustrated, but now you can purchase your own right here. I wish more than New York, Paris, and London were in existence but them’s the breaks.
These geometric prints from Lumadeesa are part of the Flora Fauna: Canines collection (ALSO SEEFlora Fauna: Birds and Flora Fauna: Mammals) and a perfect fit for the modern dog lover. Choose from six breeds – Beagle, Bernese Mountain Dog, Dachshund, German Shepherd, Jack Russell Terrier, and Pug. Sign me up for the Jack Russell, Piper is half!
For about a month now I’ve been following a clean eating diet, and it’s going really well. I’ve never liked meat (aside from the occasional cheeseburger), and absolutely love fruits and vegetables. And I have to say, my energy levels have been way higher than normal – BONUS. This print from Concrete Lace would a fantastic reminder about season produce to hang in the kitchen, close to the grocery list. (via Paper Crave)
Don’t even get me started on that logo, but the 2012 London Olympics kick off Friday and I couldn’t be more excited – I’m such a nerd. I guess it all started back in the Barcelona Games in 1992, when Kim Zmeskal and Shannon Miller (who I later took a college anthropology course with, FYI) faced off in gymnastics. I recorded it on VHS and rewatched the all-around competition over and over again. Like I didn’t know the end result. There’s just something so captivating about people who work so hard and are so incredibly driven towards something that gets me in the gut. Which is why I’ll be absolutely glued to the television for the next two weeks and go into a mild depression after the Closing Ceremony. Wait, is 32 too late to pick up a sport?
Let’s kick off Monday with some light travel, shall we? As in this print – See it by Bench – by Robert Fresson. Don’t you wish you were headed to lounge on that bench rather than sit in your cubicle? Sigh.
Jen Gotch’s Polaroids have always felt like summer and California to me. Not a bad vibe to put out! Now she’s opened an online shop – Oh Snap – answering the prayers of many an art collector. Including me.
Artist Kent Rogowski’s Everything I Wish I Could Be is an exploration of language, emotions and the desire to change and improve. Self help books run the gamet, from relationships to death and every topic in between. Rogowski’s photographs these tomes arranged by theme, creating an image of emotions and lives lived through title pages and spines.
In the artist’s own words, “I had been thinking about how people deal with moments of pain and change in their lives and knew that I wanted to explore this in my work. I started collecting self help books and realized that there was literally a book for every moment in life: from relationship advice to dealing with a midlife crisis. I liked the idea that I could create images that would represent individual moments in life using the books that were written to soothe and help with those moments.”
