Roll-Out Table

THIS IS IT.

I’ve finally found the perfect table for the ever-entertaining host or hostess. Marcus Voraa‘s Roll-Out Table is beechwood crafted with a beeswax-treated surface, finished off with steel and canvas. The length of the table can be adjusted by sliding the end out and letting the tabletop follow, while the steel crank on the side is used to retract the length.

I wanted to try and represent the social arena that is the internet. The table is where we meet, get to know each other, discuss and share information in the real world. No matter whether it is around the dinner table, in the meeting room or at a conference, it is at the table where our parallel worlds meet, the physical and the digital.

Let’s Talk Garment Racks

Valet Clothes Stand from CB2

The biggest dream I have for my house is turning the finished attic, complete with dormer windows and a turret, into my dream master suite. It’s split into two rooms, and ideally the front one would become the bedroom and the back a wardrobe and sitting room. The main obstacle is that there is no ductwork up there, and I live in a state that fully experiences all four seasons.

But whatever. Because when I’m finally able to save up and make it happen I know that I don’t want built-in shelving or suspended rods, what I actually want are old school garment racks lining the walls.

Coil + Drift

Brooklyn-based Coil + Drift was founded in 2014 by John Sorensen-Jolink, an acclaimed modern dancer-turned-designer. The studio creates contemporary furniture, lighting, and accessories with a focus on form, sustainability, and function. Sorensen-Jolink taught himself how to design in an attempt to further understand space and the objects within them. I’m looking forward to keeping an eye on what is for sure an up and coming brand!

Side Tables + Nightstands

You know what they say – side table in the living room, nightstand in the bedroom! (Oh wait, I’m the only one who says that. I digress.) Tiny tables are a part of decorating that I especially look forward to. They can be relatively affordable and simply swapping one or two out can change the look and feel of an entire space. Check out these ten that have caught my eye, I’m really feeling warm metals lately.

On the Hunt: Headboard Edition

I’ve only had two real beds in my life, a cherrywood sleigh daybed and a curved iron headboard that I’ve had since my mid-20s. (The cheap-o bed frame that I had in college and grad school certainly doesn’t count!) Right now I’m in the midst of a bedroom redo – plenty more on that to come – and am on the hunt for a new headboard, something more boho chic that reflects what my style has evolved into over the past decade.

Cozy Floor Seating

I entertain more during autumn and winter than the warmer seasons, and while my dining room comfortably seats eight my living room is lacking places to plop down because of its layout. That’s where moveable floor seating comes into play. Floor cushions can be tucked under a coffee table or couch, while poufs and more substantial pieces placed in corners or other rooms and taken out when needed. It doesn’t hurt that each and every piece is perfectly soft and cushiony, welcoming guests to cozy up and stay awhile.
