All Things Coffee

Maybe you’ve noticed the days getting shorter, or your kiddos are headed back to the classroom, or you just really love the stuff *raises hand*. It doesn’t feel like a day has truly begun until I’ve had a big mug of coffee. During the week I’m usually in a rush to get started working so I stick to standard drip in my Cuisinart, but when I have more time on the weekend to make coffee a ritual I opt for my french press or Chemex. I’m curious – how do you make yours?

Let’s Talk Stairs

Art and Chic-Design Crush
Art and Chic

Let’s call staircases what they really are: a functional sculpture. If you live in a multistory home you’re lucky enough to have your very own. And while you might be thinking my staircase is definitely not a piece of art, there are plenty of ways to turn that on its head. Grab a can of paint – the most budget-friendly way to change most parts of your space – or lay down a rug for starters. Check out these ten traditional and modern flights for a dose of inspiration.

bunglo is the 2013-born business baby of Shay Spaniola. The artist and designer’s free-spirited curiosity lead the way as she explored cultural touchstones and created a diverse color palette to base her line of textiles around. It all has a relaxing, bohemian vibe about it, and right now you can save 20% throughout thanks so a summer sale!

Abeego

Abeego-1-Design Crush

I reuse plastic food storage bags more than once, and admittedly sometimes plastic wrap as well. Since recently discovering Abeego I might not have to for much longer though. Abeego is a reusable beeswax-coated wrap that protects food and lets it breathe just like a lemon peel, onion skin, or cheese rind. The result is naturally fresher food. Each wrap is washable and will last up to a year when properly cared for.

Ridges

Ridges-1-Design Crush

If you love geometry and color Ridge is for you. The range of wall mounted shelves are available in both portrait and landscape, while the coordinating trays are made from the knocked out pieces of metal. The shelves are powder coated in different colors on each side – sulfur yellow and pure white – while the trays are signal blue and dark blue or tomatoe red and wine red.

Incense Burner No. 1 Corian

Incense Burner No. 1-Design Crush

I love every piece in the small collection offered by Lonewa, a modern home furnishings and accessories company from Louisiana. Everything is multifunctional and well thought out, yet classical and meant to be enjoyed for years to come. My favorite is the Incense Burner No. 1 Corian. It’s their newest version of the standard Burner No. 1, made with with powder coated aluminum, solid copper or solid brass cubes, and corian and can hold either incense sticks or cones.

Dreamy Daybeds

Emily Henderson-Design Crush
Emily Henderson

Around the age of 10 I wanted anything in my bedroom other than the twin canopy that had been handed down to me. I had my sophisticated eye set on a white metal framed daybed, you know the kind with the gold finial balls on each post? In other words, the cheap one. My grandparents had offered to buy me a daybed, just not That One. Off to the furniture store we went, eventually settling on a real beauty – cherry wood, scrolled head- and footboards, spindled back. After I moved off to college the day bed was retired to my Grandma’s spare bedroom, where it still sits in wait for me to one day (hopefully) hand down to my own daughter. All of this is the longwinded way of saying how thrilled I am that daybeds are having a moment again!
