Not all of us have a valentine come February 14th, some of us have pent up aggression and bitterness instead. Which means we probably need Louella Press’ letterpress voodoo doll kit. Each one is perforated and comes with its own accessories, like six pearl-tipped pins for doing your dirty work.
Last Wednesday night, after hours of whittling down my packing list for Alt, I managed to cram everything into a carry-on bag. And came to the maddening conclusion that I have become a high-maintenance traveler. I was in Salt Lake City for just over 48 hours, how in the world could I require more than would fit in a carry-on?!
And then I saw this. The Perfect Bag. (No, seriously, that’s really what it’s called!) And I decided that if this were my bag I could make two weeks worth of stuff fit inside just to have the pleasure of toting around something so chic. Hop on over and take the 360º tour. {seen on Neatorama}
I was so caught up with panels and learning and meeting people Friday at Alt that my Happy Weekend post 100% slipped my mind! But I still wanted to share some of my favorite posts from last week, so here are am few tasty links to help ease you into your Monday…
I love a good garland. frazier & wing are known mostly for their beautifully constructed paper mobiles, but I’m happy to see the addition of these sweet garlands to their shop.
I looove this kind of cocktail. One where there’s fruit, but it hardly counts because it’s so saturated with alcohol. It’s not even noon and I’m drooling over this Hawaiian Martini!
(makes 2500 ml, prep 10 minutes, allow to infuse about 1 week)
• 1500 ml (2 750 ml bottles) vodka • 500 ml vanilla vodka • 500 ml coconut rum (like Malibu) • 2 fresh pineapples, cut into 1 inch wedges
In a large (6 quart) container with a spigot-such as a lemonade, ice tea, or a punch dispenser-layer pineapple. Pour alcohol over pineapple making sure to completely cover the pineapple. Allow to infuse at least a week, will stay good much longer as long as the pineapple slices remain submerged. To serve (makes 2 drinks), measure out 4-6 oz liquid. Add along with ice to a martini shaker and shake vigorously. Strain into two martini glasses, garnish with a wedge of marinated pineapple.
I bookmarked this idea for DIY paper flowers months ago and while hunting for something else came across it today. Little pops of color are most welcome when the days are foggy and dreary like they have been this week. Looking forward to trying my hand at this project very, very soon. {link + image via Creature Comforts}
File this under the Are You Serious, It’s Really Free? category. The lovely and talented Carolynn of Two Brunettes has created this stunner of a valentine for you to download and send. Matching envelope and all. I think I may have just found my valentines!
Inspired by French apothecary packages, these labels are printed on newsprint to mimic the faded look of the originals. (Although I believe tea-staining would work wonderfully as well.) You can download them to make your own for some sweet Valentine’s Day treats!
It felt great to get back to regular blogging this week after almost a month of haphazard posts. Thanks for waiting out the flu and two Christmases with me!
You may have noticed one sizable change here over the past week: The Daily Eat is no longer with us. After a year and half I’ve decided it was time to take things in a fresher direction. One that is decidedly more true to Design Crush. So stay tuned to see where it goes, I promise to try not to disappoint!
My favorites from the past week (and maybe a few from the week before that, too!)…
